As Told by You: A Gentleman’s Defining Qualities

In February’s sneak peek, we asked you to tell us what it means to be a true gentleman. We knew it was more than holding the door, and we were impressed with your insightful interpretations of the Gentleman’s Code. Here are a few of our favorite responses:

Eyes Up, Phones Down

"A true gentleman gives his full attention to the people he is with, this means no phone at the dinner table!" —Paul Saneholtz

Establish Trust

"A true gentleman is a man that is honest in all his dealings and trustworthy with all he encounters. He treats all with respect, not just the lady he encounters." —robdogh

Put Others First…

"A true gentleman understands that by meeting the needs of the many, your personal needs are also met. Service to others yields rewards for yourself. Sometimes it’s intrinsic and just for the smile you produce and other times its more substantial. The word 'gentleman' just reminds me to consider others just as much as, if not more than, myself." —Walter Thornton

...But Still Do Right by Number One

"A gentlemen always shows respect for others, but also himself. Takes care of his body and mind, but also the people around him." —Sam

Presence Is Everything

"A true gentleman shows up. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally."
—Matthew
