Betty Who: Her Playlist Essentials

Like a proper child of the 90s, Betty Who grew up listening to *NSYNC, Michael Jackson, and Britney Spears. It’s no surprise that the rising pop sensation, whose new EP releases this spring, sounds like a 90s radio staple herself. The infectious hits off her 2013 EP “The Movement” earned her a contract with RCA and an official U.S. tour that kicks off on January 14. We had Betty share her favorite songs of the moment, and weren’t in the least surprised when the list included some of the catchiest pop music these days. But if you ask us, it’s missing the catchiest pop artist of them all: Betty herself.

Check out Betty Who’s latest favorites below, and read her Birchbox interview to learn more about her music and influences. You can also stream this full playlist on Spotify.

Naya Rivera, Sorry: “This song embodies my inner Yzma (the villainess from The Emperor's New Groove) because we all want to throw serious shade at the basics in our lives every once in a while and Naya is the queen of shade-throwing.”

St. Lucia, Elevate: “I don't know if there's another song that makes me as happy as this song does.”

Drake, Started from the Bottom: “Six months of listening to this song and I STILL feel like the baddest bitch giving you a good slow strut down the streets of NYC.”

One Direction, Little White Lies: “Because Harry Styles, that's why.”

Miley Cyrus, Adore You: “This song sends me into an emotional abyss so deep I can barely even describe the transcendence I go through every time I listen to it. Miley you SLAYED this one.”

Britney Spears, Can't Make You Love Me: “I recently revisited the "Oops I Did It Again" album for the first time in a VERY long time and had such a serious PTSD flashback to my childhood, and this song is just too good.”

Beyoncé, Blow/No Angel/Partition/XO/BEYONCÉ'S WHOLE NEW SECRET ALBUM: “Do I really need a reason?”

Ariana Grande, Right There: “Such a great throwback-Mariah-90s-R&B feel I just wanna slow grind all day to it.”

Carla Bruni, Salut Marin: “I like to listen to French music and pretend I'm sitting on my teeny balcony in Paris eating carbs and drinking wine in the early afternoon.”

Esperanza Spalding, I Know You Know: “The perfect come-hither, I-know-how-hot-I-look-but-I'm-also-playful-and-modest kind of song.”

Haim, Falling: “IF IT GETS ROUGH ITS TIIIME TO GET UHROUGH-AH. That's all.”

KING, In The Meantime: “On any given day you can find me squelting this in my shower.”
