September Box Preview (Spoiler Alert)

With the Olympics safely behind us, we're readying our DVR for a season's worth of football games. It's no easy feat, but in order to avoid spoilers, we're abstaining from smart phones, social media, and TV on game days when we can't watch live. When it comes to spoilers, however, the monthly Birchbox Man assortment is a little different. The mystery is great, but so is a little taste before the big show. In this way, the box is less like a big game, and a bit more like a blockbuster. And we’re voracious consumers of trailers. With that in mind, here’s this month’s trailer. Cue the Michael Bay 360-degree Birchbox shot…

With the start of fall, we hope September’s box galvanizes you to think about the basics. We’ve partnered with two great brands this month: Me Undies and Field Notes. What unites journals inspired by vintage agricultural ledgers and boxer briefs that fit like they’re from the future, you ask? Well, whether you’re getting your ideas down on paper or upgrading your underwear, it’s what’s underneath that counts.

All boxes will ship by August 25. Here's how to stay busy in the meantime:

  • Get to know this word: ‘gingham.’ From collared shirts to pocket squares and even picnic tablecloths, it’s a staple of menswear that belongs in your repertoire.

  • Watch this video. It’s an ode to anyone with a geeky passion.

  • Peruse The Guide for further assortment breadcrumbs.

  • Refer your neighbor, tailor, butcher, or buddy to Birchbox Man. They’ll thank you and you’ll be flush with points to spend on full-size goods in the Birchbox Shop.

  • In the final remaining hours, give us some feedback on what you liked and didn’t like in last month’s box. Again, there are points in it for you.

And always, we leave you with the latest from the front lines of our shipping operation. Matt H., Birchbox's Logistics Director (who recently provided us with a shortlist of his favorite unboxing tools) takes us out:

“Wow, what a month it has been. The dog days of shipping. Long, hot sweaty days on the dock—the receiving dock, that is. Luckily there are still a few extra Barking Irons shirts laying around the warehouse, so I had plenty to change in to. In one of my proudest life moments, I was privileged to be followed by UPS on the Twitter. This led to a significant spike in my followers, from a respectable 241 to a remarkable 244. The Birchbox team cheered as I basked in my glory. UPS has since unfollowed me. But greener pastures are ahead as we hand off September Birchbox Man boxes to local postal carriers around the country.”
