Today Brad Pitt Turns 50—Let Us Reflect on His Hair

My, how time flies. It feels like only yesterday that we first met Brad Pitt as a dreamy-eyed con man in Thelma & Louise, and today he turns the big 5-0. Through the years he’s pulled off a slew of bold hairstyles, from his long and loose Interview with a Vampire mane to his newly sleek undercut. Here, we look back on the actor’s iconic looks (and why they make us swoon):

1 The Look: Sexy Vampire

The Year: 1994

Why We Love It: While Pitt totally started the romantic vamp craze in Interview with the Vampire (sorry, Twihards), his long hair also made sense off set in the golden era of grunge.

Get the Look: Keep long hair strong (and prevent split ends) with TOWELDRY Spray Condition.

2
The Look: Gwyn’s Twin

The Year: 1997

Why We Love It: There’s something endearing about Pitt’s girlfriend-copying, angular cut. Talk about a supportive partner.

Get the Look: Protect color-treated hair with Bain de Terre Color-Preserving Conditioner.

3 The Look: Long hair, don’t care

The Year: 2002

Why We Love It: Apparently Pitt grew his hair and beard for a role that never came to be. I like to think he kept it as a totally disregard for the public’s opinion of him.

Get the Look: Keep your hair fresh (even when you’re skipping washes) with Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo; tend to a growing beard with Mr. Natty’s Beard Tonic.

4
The Look: Buzzy

The Year: 2004

Why We Love It: This sporty and no-frills look reminded us that Pitt doesn’t need to rely on his hair for mass appeal.

Get the Look: Wash and go with Acure Organics Stem Cell Shampoo.

5
The Look: Mr. Jolie

The Year: 2007

Why We Love It: By 2007, Pitt officially had become one half of Hollywood’s hottest power couple: Brangelina. Here, he looks the part with his blonde, slicked-back cut.

Get the Look: Make a brushed-back style last all day with Oribe’s Original Pomade.

6
The Look: Low-key dad

The Year: 2012

Why We Love It: Like a fine wine, Pitt gets even better as he ages with his shoulder-length locks and scruffy grey beard.

Get the Look: Prevent aging-induced breakage with Baxter of California Daily Protein Shampoo.

7
The Look: The Undercut

The Year: 2013

Why We Love It: Always one to surprise us, Pitt made the chop this year, switching out his long hair for a trendy undercut.

Get the Look: Tame a short cut (sans stickiness) with Number 4’s Firm Hold Hair Gel.
