What’s in Your Travel Bag: A Road Trip through Patagonia

AYRES founder Alejandro Rasic spends much of his time traveling between the company’s headquarters in Miami and his home in Argentina, where he gets most of his inspiration for AYRES’ aromatherapy line. Among his favorite excursions in his home country is “El Camino de los Siete Lagos” (The Road of the Seven Lakes), a 66-mile drive through the lakes and mountains of Patagonia. According to Rasic, the scenery is worth slowing down for—he likes to stay at one of the boutique hotels along the way. Before embarking on his most recent trip, the photographer and entrepreneur was kind enough to unpack and capture the contents of his overnight bag.

1. La Martina Red Leather Bag
“Your bag stores your valuables, so it should be as valuable to you as the things it contains. I saw this bag at a store called La Martina, in Buenos Aires, and I decided to invest in it. It’s a limited edition bag and you can only find 5 of them in the world."

2. Hermes Terre d'Hermes Perfume
“Having worked in the perfume business for 20 years, I can tell you that Terre d'Hermes is my favorite scent for men.”

3. H&M Shirt
“A guy always needs a good pair of shoes and a good watch, but he can certainly save some money on the rest. People ask me where I get my shirts and I love to see their faces when I tell them it’s from H&M.”

4. Red UNIQLO Feather Jacket
“Always bring a jacket. Even in the summer you need a jacket at night. Patagonian nights are always chilly.”

5. Gola Dark Brown Leather Sneakers
“These are sneakers but they look a bit more elegant. You want to have nice shoes when stopping at a bed and breakfast or one of those nice small hotels.”

6. Diesel Dark Blue Jeans
“Always bring dark blue jeans. They’re good for any occasion: elegant at night and trendy during the day.”

7. Polo Dark Brown Leather Belt
“Your belt should always match the color of your shoes.”

8. Blue Man Trunk Speedo
“Yes, I wear a Brazilian speedo when I go to the beach. You’ll need this if you want to jump into one of those amazing lakes.”

9. Ray-Ban Sunglasses
“These are essential if you are in the driver's seat.”

10. iPhone and Charger
“Can't live without my phone. I work on social media for AYRES at all times, and need a charger since I use Google maps to navigate around those mountains.”

11. AYRES Patagonia Body Butter
"It is my brand but I have to say I am completely addicted to this body butter. It has perfect texture, a fresh scent (inspired by the blue lagoons in Patagonia), and hydrates your skin just right."
