5 Reasons Why Anna Kendrick Is Our Newest Celeb Crush

We admit it—we have a habit of fawning all over our celeb crushes. Jennifer Lawrence? Guilty as charged. Beyonce? Well, can you blame us? It’s just that whenever a face emerges from Hollywood’s fame machine with the chops and a killer sense of humor to back it up, we swoon. And no stranger to our affections is Anna Kendrick, the Oscar-nominated, Twilight alumnus who's been making waves lately with her laugh-out-loud Newcastle Brown Ale commercial. Not only do we think the young actress is worthy of all the attention she's been getting, we're happy to spell out why:

She’s Funny

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’re guessing you saw Anna Kendrick’s LOL-worthy Super Bowl “ad.” There’s nothing better than a celeb willing to poke fun at her own status (“Am I beer commercial hot?”), and we love following her running commentary on Twitter about life’s small comedic moments. Sample tweet: “Remember guys, the better she looks in that dress, the scarier her underwear is. Merry Christmas!”

She’s Got Chops

While we first noticed her as Kristen Stewart’s competitive schoolmate, she’s since sailed to the upper echelons of Hollywood with her Oscar nod for 2009’s Up in the Air—proving that there IS life after Twilight. Able to play up the drama with the best of ‘em (like, ahem, George Clooney), she’s also down to flash her clever wit in comedies like Pitch Perfect, which brings us to number three…

The Girl Can SING

Kendrick wowed us with her vocal skills in Pitch Perfect, and she’s set to star in the sequel, which will be directed by Elizabeth Banks (of Hunger Games fame, no less). She’s also slated for not one but two movie musicals with the big screen versions of The Last Five Years and Into the Woods (in which she’ll play Cinderella). Do we sense a stint on Broadway in her future?

She Boasts Indie Cred

Not limited to big-money blockbusters and Oscar bait, Kendrick is cool enough to roll with independent filmmakers like Joe Swanberg, the writer/director behind last year's indie, Drinking Buddies. As Jill, the unfaithful (and, admittedly, pretty annoying) gf to Jake Johnson's Luke, Kendrick showed viewers she isn't afraid to take on challenging, unlikable roles in order to service a larger story.

And She's Still Down to Earth

In the end, our celeb crush boils down to Kendrick's dedication to keeping it real. Our favorite example: She’s not the least bit ashamed to flaunt her—admittedly dorky—Game of Thrones obsession or making somewhat inappropriate jokes via Twitter. Long live the house of Kendrick!
