Don’t Leave Birchbox Points on the Table

Birchbox Points are easy to accumulate and even easier to use toward purchasing full-size products in the Shop. And like our savvy subscribers, Birchbox staffers have developed Points-saving and -spending strategies. More on that later. First: a refresher course.

1. You earn one Birchbox Point for every dollar you spend in the Birchbox Shop, and 10 Points equals $1. This translates to a 10 percent credit back on every purchase. For example, if you purchased Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Petite Cologne Absolue—excellent choice!—in our Shop for $80, you would earn 80 Points.

2. You also earn Birchbox Points when you spread the Birchbox word to friends, coworkers, and family members through our friend referral program. Every Birchbox subscriber has a unique referral link that can be found on the My Account page. You’ll get 50 Points for each friend who signs up for Birchbox using your referral. That’s an additional $5 for you to spend!

3. Birchbox subscribers rack up Points just for sharing their opinions about the samples they received in their monthly Birchbox! Here’s how: Go to your Box page, click a product, then click “Write a Review.” (Your Box page gets updated every month around the 10th with new products to survey.) For each feedback form you submit, you’ll receive 10 Birchbox Points. Even if you weren’t totally jazzed about a sample you can still earn Points to spend on full-size products you love.

4. You can combine your Points with current promotions for even greater savings. Enter any promotion code in the Shopping Cart, in the field titled Coupon Codes in the bottom left-hand corner of the page. Make sure to click Apply Coupon before you proceed to checkout.

Now that we’ve covered the basics of earning, let’s move on to the fun part: spending! Here’s how Birchbox staffers maximize their Birchbox Points:

The Hoarder

Name: Paulina Schwietzer

Position: Associate Operations Manager

You can’t hurry love—or the perfect beauty purchase. Lucky for you, you don’t have to. Points are valid for one year, and there’s no limit to how many you can redeem at one time. A self-confessed hoarder, Paulina has been methodically building her Points reserve for months. Her planned splurge: the DDF® Revolve 500x Micro-Polishing System.

The Mathematician

Name: Brenna Davis

Position: eCommerce Planning Analyst

Points can only be redeemed in increments of 100, and this number cruncher carefully plots each purchase. “I’m currently eyeing Mox Botanicals Bath Milk, which perfectly fits my beauty budget at $12.” But to make sure she’s getting the most out of her 200-Point stash, Brenna is adding C.O. Bigelow Mentha Exfoliating Body Soap, $7.50 to her order—bringing her grand total to $19.50.

The Deal-Maker

Name: Lindy Huang Hoelscher

Position: Director of Marketing

Whether she’s hitting up Greenwich Village vintage shops or searching for a new eyeliner, this marketing whiz is always on the hunt for a great deal. To make the most of her Points cache, Lindy keeps a keen eye on her inbox and the Birchbox Facebook page. “When I get fun alerts about Discovery Dashes or Points promotions, I usually pick up a product on my wish list.”
