Birchbox Crush: Judy Aldridge

As far as cool moms go, Judy Aldridge is pretty high on the list. A former model who once had her own clothing line, Judy took a hiatus from the fashion world to raise her two girls, Jane and Carol. Her daughters inherited her love of design (not to mention designer shoes) — so much so that in 2007 Jane launched Sea of Shoes, the wildly successful fashion blog. Judy quickly caught the blogging bug and went on to start one of her own. Atlantis Home, a fantastical mix of interior design, fashion, recipes, and e-commerce, has the online world buzzing and made Judy and Jane quite the digital duo. This month we caught up with the in-demand mom to find out about her beauty go-tos, latest must-haves, and of course, her shoe closet.

High Speed

My day-to-day beauty routine is fast, probably because I don't place the priority on it that I should. However, in the evening, I'm very meticulous about it.

Must-Haves

I really like NARS blushes because of the colors. The girls and I love Orgasm, but we seriously wish they would re-name it! Beauty is Life eye shadows are amazing because the colors aren’t too saturated, which is really nice when you’re older and don’t want your eyes to look clumpy or emphasize wrinkles. The Bionic lotion from Sunday Riley is amazing, but the entire line of products is fantastic, especially if you’re over forty — everything is so concentrated and effective! I also love the Serge Lutens’ finishing powder.

New Love

I love my new Bobbi Brown highlighter pen. The BagSnob, who is a dear friend, recommended it to me. It gives you the type of glow you see on the red carpet.

Early Action

The best piece of beauty advice I’ve given my daughters is to take good care of their skin. Create a bedtime routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and applying anti-aging products. Jane and Carol do use a few products with retinol.

Sharing is Caring

As far as sharing beauty products, Jane is notorious for stealing my things—she would call it ‘borrowing.’ I'm not a fan. I like to know where things are when I need them. But we don't share shoes; we have different size feet.

If the Shoe Fits

I own probably around 250 pair of shoes. My favorite new pair is the lace-up double Mary Jane spats from Miu Miu.
