Meet Our Birchblogger of the Month: Lisa Rosado

Our community of Birchbloggers is a vibrant bunch of beauty-loving ladies from all corners of the blogosphere. Stay tuned, as we’ll be featuring one Birchblogger each month to share her story on the Birchbox Magazine. This month, meet actress-turned-blogger Lisa Rosado.

What inspired you to start your blog?

After graduating from Pace University with a degree in acting, I accepted a full-time position buying for and managing a women’s boutique in NYC. Starting my blog meant merging the two worlds I love so much together. The sense of community and support I get from blogging is one of the greatest feelings—I want to inspire and love being inspired in return!

What are some of your favorite products right now?

Oribe Beautiful Color Shampoo and Conditioner, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, and Joie's Folle de Joie Eau de Parfume.

If you could only use one product every day, what product would it be?

Concealer! I can’t go a day without using a high quality concealer to brighten up my undereye area and cover up any blemishes I may have.

Describe your personal approach to beauty and fashion.

I’m not super high maintenance, but I do like to take my time doing my makeup. There's something about applying makeup that puts me in a zen state and relaxes me. For fashion, I'm all about pairing simple staples with killer accessories like a moto jacket, a hat, or a great statement necklace.

We love the photos on your blog! What's the secret to your positive attitude?

I can get pretty uncomfortable in front of the camera, so to cope, I let my goofball side come out to help me loosen up a bit. Fashion and beauty should be fun! I’m also at a point in my life where I am trying to surround myself with positivity, and I hope to spread that message to my readers.

What are some of your daily must-read blogs?

Right now my faves are Not Your Standard, Call to Style, RachMartino, Lisa Sails, and Natalie Off Duty! They all inspire me in such wonderful, different ways!

Our theme this month is Away We Go. Do you have any tips for staying stylish while traveling?

Versatility is key when trying to pack consciously! Add a few easy-to-wear, functional pieces that you can mix and match like solid tops, dresses, and a pair of your favorite jeans. Play up those items with different accessories like stand out jewelry, a vibrant printed scarf or a fun colored blazer. Avoid bag lady status by packing a light cross-body bag that comfortably fits your essentials for whatever adventures you have planned for the day.

Take us through your typical beauty routine. Does it vary depending on your outfit or do you stick to a signature look?

95 percent of the time I go with my signature cat eye! I'm such a sucker for winged liner. Depending on what I'm wearing I'm attracted to shadows and blush in hues of gold, copper, pink, and plum. I love a solid red, orange, or fuchsia lip.

What’s the best beauty trick you’ve recently discovered?

Use eye shadow primer! It can make a world of a difference, especially during the summer or if you have oily eyelids! I find that using a great primer like theBalm's Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer or Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base keeps my eye makeup in check throughout the day.

You mention on your blog that you used to be an actress. Did you pick up any beauty tips while on set?

There's one tip I use to this very day: A white or metallic shadow or liner on the inner tear ducts and along the lower lash line can really open up the eyes and make them appear larger! I've also learned that you can totally transform your face with just a few contouring techniques.

What’s your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?

My favorite post would have to be about my Birchbox faves. I received such a large, positive response from friends, family, and readers who tried out some of the products mentioned and loved them just as much as I do. That was the moment that made me realize, OK! I've got to keep doing this.
