Packing List: Puerto Rico

Laura, our Brand Campaign Strategy Manager, is heading to Puerto Rico for an epic weeklong beach vacay. Once she reaches her final destination, PR's historic capital San Juan, she plans on spending ample time on lush beaches and hitting up outdoor flea markets for fun souvenirs. (Full disclosure: We're thoroughly jealous.) In addition to comfy walking shoes and her trusty passport, here are some of the travel must-haves Laura will stash in her carry-on:

Beach Read

Though she’s leaving the hustle and bustle behind, this native New Yorker plans on diving into Edward L. Glaeser’s novel Triumph of the City: How Our Greatest Invention Makes Us Richer, Smarter, Greener, Healthier, and Happier. Explaining her interesting beach read choice, Laura says, “I find architecture and urban planning fascinating, so I am really excited to read about the insane inner-workings and diverging paths of cities all over the world.”

Red Lips

Some style statements stand the test of time and transcend barriers. Chief among them? Vivid, red lipstick. Influenced by vintage beauty, Bésame Cosmetics Crimson Cream Rouge gives lips and cheeks a believable flush that blends right into your skin, no matter your skin tone. Better yet, it’s made with a moisturizing jojoba, olive, and grapeseed oils to keep Laura’s lips hydrated despite PR’s balmy temps.

SPF

Whether she’s laying on the beach or running around Manhattan, Laura always applies a healthy dose of Supergoop!® Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream. Not only does this complexion correcting CC cream mask blemishes and imperfections, it also guards against damaging UVA, UVB, and infrared-A rays.

The Bag

Her beach bag of choice? Of a Kind’s Ranga Reddy ikat weekend Large enough to fit a fluffy beach towel, several bottles of sunscreen, and a stack of magazines, this pretty-patterned tote makes the perfect beachside companion.

The Shades

No tropical getaway is complete without a pair of too-cool sunnies. Enter Warby Parker’s Wheeler Sunglasses in Windswept. Whether she’s exploring Old San Juan or hiking El Yunque National Forest, Laura is turning to these modern and sleek frames for style and comfort.

Island Threads

Let’s state the obvious: Puerto Rico is hot, hot, hot. Meaning sleeves are pretty much obsolete. Rather than being pegged as a gringo, Laura’s ditching her go-to business professional attire and slipping into Everlane’s airy Poplin Sleeveless Band.

Fresh Face

A vacay is no excuse to take a time-out from your skincare routine. To make sure her skin stays smooth and clean, she’s stashing Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit in her suitcase. This two-part skincare system gently remove all traces of dirt, grime, and makeup, while sweeping away dulling dead skin cells.
