Red Carpet Watch: Lupita Nyong’o

We know we're not alone when we say this: we are head-over-heels for the crazy talented Lupita Nyong’o. The breakout talent is not only the frontrunner for this year’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in 12 Years a Slave, but has also been lighting up red carpets and our Instagram feed. This award season, we've seen her step out in showstopping hues, from the vivid red Ralph Lauren she wore to the Golden Globes, to the turquoise Gucci gown (and matching eyeshadow) she flashed at the SAG Awards. Not only that—the social-media-savvy actress knows the value of a good selfie (bonus points for grabbing buddy Pharrell, too.

Now, in the lead-up to the Oscars, Nyong'o stuns in New York's spring-themed spread, dreamily awash in pastel pinks and blues. In the accompanying piece, the recent Yale School of Drama alumnus talks about her dedication to her craft: "I thrive on structure,” she says, “I find my freedom in structure." Brilliant, share-happy, and unafraid to play with color? Nyong'o has a permanent spot on our red carpet radar. And we can't wait to see what's next come the first Sunday in March.
