As beauty editors, we probably shouldn’t admit this, but we want to level with you: We’re o-v-e-r wild and ridiculous nail art. There, we said it. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t like a striking mani. Our latest love? Texture, which is when polish has a nifty 3D effect. Not only is it a whole lot easier to do than nail art (no tiny brush required!), but it’s also a whole lot more sophisticated looking. Essie’s innovative encrusted treasures collection is our favorite new line of textured lacquers—here’s an up close look at these six shades and what makes them so eye-popping.
A surprisingly dense combination of gold and silver microglitter means that this hue is fantastic for layering, but it will also only take two coats to be opaque itself. We’re smitten by the regular-size silver glitter and large hex glitter's confetti effect on your fingertips. Party mani, anyone?
A semi-sheer matte black polish, this might just win the award for most unique finish. As it dries, tiny caviar-like beads begin to form, giving it a very granular feel. There’s also a bunch of holographic hex glitter so that your matte grainy nails have an ever-so-slight bit of luster.
An incredibly concentrated amount of grey and silver glitter, the finish is delightfully gritty and sandpaper-like. Even though this hue can’t really be worn over another color (it’s not the least bit sheer), it is our go-to polish for creating a dazzling gradient look.
This bold matte hue has plenty of texture and tons of shine thanks to teeny flecks of gold shimmer. Probably the wildest shade in collection, we especially love wearing this deep blue in the winter.
Gunmetal sliver and gold shimmer make up the base of this stunning polish. The real attention-grabbing elements, though, are the flecks of violet holographic hex glitter. We suggest layering this over a dark black or grey opaque polish for an incredible contrast.
The only bar glitter polish in the bunch, this also stands out because of its clear base. Even though it’s pretty on it’s own, we particularly love this as a top coat, ideally against something that will make the holographic bar glitter really pop.
