I have a bunch of different collar stays and I think it is in very poor taste to have an unformed collar, with or without stays, unless you have a button down collar (which I don't personally like). That being said, these are a little over the top, and unnecessary to get that sharp collar look. I also found them a little heavy.
When used without the magnets these collar stays work well and are a decent product. They work as well as other metal collar stays. Not surprising since it's just a bar of metal.
With the magnets, the würkin stiffs Power Stays are not great. First, the magnets are low quality and have cracked and chipped after one use without being dropped or otherwise abused. Second, placing the magnets and adjusting the lay of the collar is a fiddly process. The end result could be considered neat and tidy. But in the end I thought it looked like I had forgotten to remove the cardboard collar support that comes in a new dress shirt.
I'm using the würkin stiffs collar stays without the magnet since I already have the product. But if I was in the market for collar stays I'd find a non-magnetized set of stays.
These really do hold well through the fabric of the collar. My only issue with these is trying to position them in just the right place to make the collar look like it has buttons. Depending on the shirt, I sometimes just use these as standard collar stays without the magnet. Overall, they are worth the money I spent.
Since I wear a dress shirt every day, collar stays are part of my morning ritual. These collar stays are great. Firm hold that never slips and the magnets don't move around my collar during the day.
I said it before and I'll say it again. One of the best purchases you can make to really give yourself that polished look.
These are awesome! I only wish they came in sets of (3). That way if you misplace one you are still ok. This is going to be my first reorder item. Keep shirt collars straight. Great!
Works exactly as described. Gives the collar a structure look. I have not worn these with a tie, not sure if its intended to be worn with one.
I really like the structure the magnets give to my shirts, but the magnets included started to within the first week. I've since tossed those and gotten some generic neo-dymium magnets to use with the metal stays and they work great (and haven't had the chipping problem). I recomend the concept, but you can put it together better and for less money on your own.
These are much better than using the collar stays that come with my shirts. The magnets are easy to use and look great.
These collar stays are great if you don't mind metal collar stays. Metal tends to destroy the shirt collar quicker, but once in a while it won't kill you. I lost mine and repurchased them because I loved them so much. The collars stay where you want them and it makes you look much more polished across the board. Do be careful though when you are done and taking your shirt off. The magnetic back piece tends to pop out and then you gotta go find them if you don't take them out first. It is especially problematic if you are taking your tie off in the car and this happens -- trust me on that one.
