Birchbox Breakdown

If you’re rocking a fragrance inherited from your old man, or relying on a goopy deodorant stick for your olfactory game, it’s time to mix things up. Kick off your new scent strategy with this subtle, summery eau de toilette from Motor City designer John Varvatos. It’s the fragrance equivalent of your favorite jeans and a just-washed tee: classic, cool, and easy-going. Even the packaging—a flask wrapped in hand-woven rattan—exudes laid-back class.

How it Works

This fresh-from-the-shower cologne blends Sicilian clementine, Mexican mandarin, and tangelo with woody base notes like kephalis and Georgywood. There are hints of thyme, too, and musky serenolide.

How to Use

Apply a spritz to your pulse points: inner wrists, neck and behind the ears.

LOVE this scent

Fresh and subtle. Maybe too subtle. I bought a bottle and it takes a LOT to feel it was worth the effort. But based on the scent alone this is A+++

Smells Great!

Loved the scent that I ended up purchasing the 4.5oz amount. The smell is not overpowering but it will leave you smelling wonderful all day. My girlfriend loves it and wants me to continue getting it after i have used this bottle.

Soft yet powerful

This product has a classic, laid back scent that is perfect for a guys night out, for a regular day at college or for a day in town. It's has a soothing scent of summery citrus and a wood. Perfect mixture of a soft personality and a lumberjack. A cologne most men should have in retainer!

A Winner

Oh yeah. Nice and crisp. Smells summery. If, like me, you're not super fond of wearing fragrances, this is a good one to try as it's light and doesn't last forever. You just feel fresh when you put it on.

Nice for a change.

When choosing a scent, I tend to stay more with the barber shop classics (like grandpa), but John Varvatos Artisan is a nice change of pace.

I really enjoyed the citrus scents, especially when paired with other products from my January Box.

I have read some reviews saying the scent didn't linger, but in my case, I was surprised by its longevity.

This is defiantly more of a spring, summer scent due to its light, dry orange nature. I would recommend this for anyone looking for something a little different.

Chill scent

A lighter scent I can wear to work (where I'm not supposed to wear scents)… I wish the smell would stick around longer but its great while it lasts.

Nice for Spring/Summer

This has a nice light scent, would be a great cologne for spring/summer and the bottle looks cool on the shelf.

smell doesn't last

I liked the smell of this cologne, and my girlfriend does too. The only problem is that even if I put enough of it on to make my eyes water, the smell is gone twenty minutes later.
