Will definitely be purchasing again.
My hair is med-thick and generally hard to control. I prefer hair products that don't leave any shine, as shiny hair products tend to leave me looking to 'glossed' up . This product is excellent for a more matted, lived-in look and it doesn't take much to style my entire head. I am still on my first tin and it's been over 8 months ! granted, i probably use this only every other day on average, but that's still a lot of run for the money. I would venture to say there's still about 2 months worth of product left - so 10 months total from 1 tin !
In terms of hold, it's excellent. A very strong and pliable hold that can be re-styled after being windblown or wearing a hat. It definitely keeps things in place and a little goes a long way so be careful not to use too much of it.
On top of being a solid product, another plus is the smell. Best I can describe it is 'Industrial meets the Bahamas'. Hints of petroleum mixed with coconut. A very unique, masculine, non-offensive scent that isn't overpowering but is definitely aromatic when in close proximity. It's definitely good for a mens hair product scent in my opinion.
I like using this right after a shower when my hair is damp. I like to spike up my hair, and I don't like it all crunchy like some alcohol based gels do it up. You only need a little bit, like drop a dime on your head; maybe a nickel. This will hold for a couple days, too, giving you the total Ralph Lauren look. Clay also soaks up oil if you are prone to that... In the end, this is my go to product.
So glad I found this product here at Birchbox. It has a great beachy scent to it and has good hold that lasts throughout the day. One of my favorite hair products I've used. Will definitely purchase again.
Not worth the money.
I purchased this product because each reviewer gave it five (5) stars, so I figured it had to be perfect. I have medium length, somewhat wavy hair - and a lot of it. My previous products include: Osis Mess Up, Mens Dept. Grooming Clay, Aveda Grooming Clay, and Baxter Clay Pomade. Mr. Natty does not compare to any of the foregoing products. It does not have a strong hold (maybe if your hair is very short and very thin it will be a strong hold), the scent smells like a chemical version of coconut, and you cannot simply add more to cure the products defects. In my opinion, Baxter Clay Pomade is the best product out there within the clay product line. In conclusion, skip it. It is not worth $24.
good hold, good texture, great smell!
I have a short, heavily bleached, semi-mohawk, and the Mr. Natty gives me good control and piecey effects and lift without being too crusty and crispy. The texture of it feels great and I love the coconut-y smell!
Just what I've been after!
This stuff has the perfect amount of hold without a greasy appearance. It smells good too. Reminds me of old-timey pipe tobacco or something.
I've tried a lot of hair products in this general category and this is one of the best I've come across -- nice matte finish, and good hold while still looking natural and not making the hair too "clumpy." Anyone who uses a clay-type hair product should try this against their current favorite.
Very good product
This clay does everything that it's supposed to: it holds well, dries to a nice matte finish, and washes out pretty easily. It also is pliable and smells quite nice (coconut). Love it!
I've searched high and low for a product that had both a strong enough hold and didn't leave my hair shiny or greasy, and Mr. Natty may have found himself a customer for as long as I still have hair. I have fairly thin hair that makes me look like a chia pet once towel dried, so product for me is essential, even when I'm just heading out to the store, but I don't want it to look like I plastered my hair to my head either. This clay gives a great matte finish that looks like I hardly have anything in it, but is strong enough to hold through the day. Even in windy Chicago I'm able to re-work it throughout the day with no problem.
