Birchbox Breakdown

Sometimes you just need to get things down on paper. Field Notes are there for when you’re out and about, whether that’s on a road trip, in a bar, or exploring a new city. With a vintage design inspired by agricultural memo books of the early 20th century, these journals are small and flexible enough to fit in a back pocket. The set also comes with a pair of colorful retro clic pens so you’re prepared whenever inspiration strikes.

How it Works

This three-pack includes one graph, one ruled, and one plain paper book, each 48 pages and bound with hefty craft paper. The front covers include a space for your name and contact information, and the back covers are printed with a five-inch ruler. Retro ball point clic pens write fluidly and look sharp in the breast pocket of a short-sleeved white button-down.

How to Use

Stick one of the clic pens and a notebook in your pocket before you go anywhere. Jot down poems, manifestos, or grocery lists as they come to you.

Fabulous

I love these little journals. High quality paper. Great design. Pens write well. Practical size to always have on hand when you need to write something down. And it's nice to spend time writing stuff instead of entering it onto my phone or other device.

Nice gift

I purchased this as a gift for my son-in-law. The notebooks are compact, but perfect as a gift. The pens are a little cheap.

Good price but cheap pens

Inexpensive way to try out the different styles of Field Notes. I would rather just buy this mixed pack WITHOUT the pens at a lower price though.

Write great

Feels great in the hand and prefect fit for a pocket. Holds up well and writes well. I would highly recommend for yourself or as a gift.

Good gift

I bought these for the initial cute factor, but I don't know that my guy friends would be as attracted to that. The pen is pretty cheap, but the note pads are surprisingly sturdy and good for carrying in your pocket or purse.

Great size for the gym

I had been looking for the perfect notebook that I could take to the gym to track my workout routines. Many of the previous books I've found were not the right size, or just not durable enough to withstand being shoved into my gym bag daily.
The Field Notes notebook turned out to be the perfect size, and after a month of use is still in great shape.

Awesome books...pens, not so much

Love the books from Field Notes. Nice, old fashioned styling that looks cooler than the plain Moleskin alternative. That said, the pens are a little on the cheap side. Surprised to see retailers hawking these pens.

Great product for someone on the go.

I work on a college campus where I go from meeting to meeting without having much time to stop. I use my Field Notes to jot down quick notes from students regarding any issues they have, any questions/help my fellow staff members need and any other quick notes that I need to remember for later (I barely have any short term memory.) Field Notes are great for anyone like me who has a bad memory--but lots to remember (or lots of information given to them by lots of people on a daily basis.)

Use every single day!

I use Field Notes ever day to write my to do lists, shopping lists, baseball scores...even cocktail recipes. The size is so functional, I just slip it in my back pocket and head out the door.

Stick with a classic
Sampled

I was really disappointed with the field notes with "retro" pen (read cheapest pen on the market). For someone who actually takes notes on the fly, or writes travel notes, etc, I would suggest sticking with the classic Moleskine pocket notebook. My field note samples and retro pens have found their way to the telephone for jotting phone numbers, along with all the other scratch pads that I receive through the mail as "gifts" from charities. Certainly not worth the price
