History

This is one brand that goes way back — all the way to the 19th century, in fact. In 1838, Dr. Galen Hunter founded the Village Apothecary Shop in New York City and began dispensing remedies, including his first product, the skin-saving Rose Wonder Cold Cream. A few decades later, his employee Clarence Otis Bigelow took over the pharmacy and renamed it C.O. BIGELOW. Since then, the apothecary-turned-personal care line has gained legions of celebrity fans. Nowadays, it continues to serve customers in its flagship NYC store and has developed its own range of wholesome products.
