What started as a young Jonathan Adler’s summer camp fling with pottery more than 30 years ago has turned into one of the most renowned home design companies in the world. In 1994, Adler sold his first ceramics collection to Barneys New York. These days, he creates items that go well beyond the potter’s wheel—Furniture. Stationery. Ornaments—and has even redesigned California’s iconic Parker Palm Springs hotel. In addition, there are more than 20 JONATHAN ADLER stores between Los Angeles and London.
Whimsical, “life-enhancing” designs with a dash of irreverence. The motto? “If your heirs won’t fight over it, we won’t make it.” Another Adler mantra: “We believe minimalism is a bummer.” Think lots of bright colors and bold, pleasingly clashing prints.
Proof that Adler’s work is indeed life enhancing: he married Barneys’ creative ambassador, Simon Doonan, in 2008.
We love the animal-shaped porcelain ornaments—couldn’t make us merrier.
