The name translates to jewel, but JOYA isn’t thinking about carats and clarity. Instead, the innovative line is referring to the way its natural wax candles have a crystalline, not smooth, character. Founder Frederick Bouchardy takes an haute approach to scent, developing distinctive candles and uncommon fragrances that are meant to be displayed — like jewels. A favorite among fashion elites, the brand places as much emphasis on its artistic bottles and packaging as on the modern, entrancing scents. It’s no wonder that they’ve been tapped to create special editions for Rodarte, Opening Ceremony, and Barneys New York.
