History

Founded by Candace Goldflies, Skin, An Apothecary, was originally a trio of beauty stores in the vacation ski towns of Vail, Aspen, and Avon, Colorado. The out-of-towner skiers who flocked to the stores convinced her to start shipping products so they could get their hands on their favorites even out of season. As more stores and websites started carrying her line, the Aspen and Vail stores closed to make time for all the orders coming in for her creams, cleansers, moisturizers, and scrubs. In 1999, Candace passed away and her niece Iris and brother Gary took over the business in her legacy.

Philosophy

Only the best and freshest ingredients for your skin and hair. Skin, An Apothecary was one of the first natural skin care lines in the country in the early 1980s. The company’s founders use their own products and won’t sell anything they don’t want themselves.

The founders continue to hand mix small-batch beauty products with the same tools and in the same space they’ve been in for 20 years.
