Birchbox Crush: Estee Stanley
Jessica Biel, Lea Michele, and the Olsens have a few things in common: excellent genes, devoted paparazzi followings, and Estee Stanley. The latter, if you’re not up on your Tinseltown intel, is one of the top celebrity fashion stylists working today. A Cali native, Stanley spent years working with top stars on their wardrobes before adding interior design to her repertoire. Most recently, she teamed up with Who What Wear to act as Editor-at-Large for their soon-to-launch home site, Domaine.
What key pieces do you think every woman should invest in?
Fendi bags are like pieces of art—they are all so different and extravagant. It’s like carrying around a unique piece. The Row T-shirts are so cozy yet sexy. I had yet to find a T-shirt I loved until these came out.
What if you can’t afford to wear designer?
I always go high/low. I love Zara and Topshop as well.
What do you ask someone when you first start working with them?
Do you prefer comfort over fashion? Depending on how far I can push, it’s usually the shoes that I let people be comfortable with.
Biggest beauty splurge?
Photofacials by a private aesthetician who does house calls. I can’t give out her number, sorry!
What about fashion splurges?
I don’t usually buy Jil Sander, but she had this retro ‘60s-style coat in baby pink that blew my mind.
What products do you always have on hand?
Latest product discovery?
What style advice do you have for regular women?
Don’t wear sweats. And I’m not a huge fan of sneakers unless you’re working out.
What are you excited about?
I’m the Editor-at-Large for Domaine, the new home website from Who What Wear. It’ll launch before summer. I’m excited to collaborate with so many people and explore new homes that aren’t my clients’. My friend Jenni Kayne and I also recently launched Ladys & Gents, a Tumblr that showcases stylish kids!
