I just signed up for a Birchbox subscription! What will I receive?

Our subscription service delivers the best products and insider tips to your door. Every month, Birchbox subscribers will receive a curated box of five beauty, grooming, and/or lifestyle samples. To personalize your boxes, complete your respective Beauty or Grooming Profile to help us learn more about who you are and what you’re looking to discover.

Once your box arrives, you’ll want to head to to learn more about the products you’ve received, including tips, expert interviews, helpful tutorials and engaging videos.

When you’re ready for more, you can purchase full-size versions of your samples directly from the Birchbox Shop. We have a generous loyalty program that rewards you each time you shop, refer friends, and give feedback on your monthly samples. You can redeem your Birchbox Points to save on any full-size or gift purchase..

Is Birchbox available outside the US?

Yes! Birchbox is now available in France, Spain the UK and Canada. Birchbox subscriptions are non-transferable across markets.

Are there any hidden fees?

Nope! Your Birchbox Subscription will not have any shipping or handling fees. Please note that sales tax will be charged for orders placed with a shipping address in a state in which we operate. Currently, sales tax is charged for orders shipping to New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and California.

When can I expect my first shipment?

Your Birchbox can take up to 10 days to process after your initial order, and you will receive an estimated shipping date on your order confirmation. Once your Birchbox has shipped from our warehouse, it should arrive within an estimated 5-10 business days. You will receive an email with a tracking number so you can follow your box's progress.

When will I be billed for the monthly recurring membership?

After your first box has shipped, you’ll start with our regular and billing and shipping cycle. For the Birchbox Monthly Rebillable Subscription, we bill regularly on the first and ship by the tenth of each month. For the Birchbox Man Monthly Rebillable Subscription, we bill regularly on the 15th and ship by the 25th of each month. You will always receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number so that you may follow your box's progress.

Yearly Rebillable Subscriptions offer 12 months of boxes for the price of 11 boxes. You’ll be billed for the full year of your subscription at the time of your initial order, and will not see another charge until you’ve received 12 boxes. You will be notified via email when your auto-renewal is around the corner and given the opportunity to opt-out of recurring payment.

Can I sign up for just one box?

So sorry! We do not offer the option to purchase an individual Birchbox.

What is your cancellation policy?

Monthly Rebillable Subscriptions can be canceled at any time. To cancel your Monthly Rebillable Subscription, visit your “Account Settings” page. From there, select the red link to cancel on the left-hand column under Subscription. Please note that if you've already been billed for the current month, you'll still receive this month's box and your cancellation will be effective for the next billing cycle.

Yearly Rebillable Subscriptions may only be cancelled within the first month. However, yearly subscribers will have the option to opt out of auto-renewal to ensure the subscription is canceled upon completion. This option will becomes available within Account Settings during the final month. To opt out earlier, send us a message here.

What is the Birchbox Aces Program?

Birchbox Aces is our VIP Program, which offers special perks and privileges to our members. Aces will benefit from free standard shipping on all full-sized orders and free 2-day shipping on qualifying full-sized orders of $100 or more. Additionally, Aces enjoy concierge service from our team of Discovery Specialists, exclusive and early access to special offers, Aces anniversary gifts, and more surprises year-round!

Want to become a Birchbox Ace? Take advantage of our Birchbox Points Program! After earning 500 Birchbox Points within a calendar year, you will receive Ace status for the calendar year in which you qualify, as well as the following calendar year. How do I become an Ace?

You become a Birchbox Ace once you've racked up 500 Birchbox Points during the calendar year (January-December.) Annual requalification is required.

What type of Birchbox Points qualify toward Ace status?

Birchbox Points earned via purchases, friend referrals, subscriber monthly sample reviews, or additional promotional offers related to the Birchbox Aces Program will be credited toward your Aces eligibility. Points awarded by the Discovery Specialist Team (“Sorry Points”) are not eligible for the Aces Program. You can track your progress toward becoming an Ace here when you are logged into your account.


Where does Birchbox ship?

Birchbox ships to the United States, its territories, and APO/FPO/DPO, as well as all provinces in Canada.

All orders containing Hazardous Materials can only be shipped to addresses within the Continental US and cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

What are the dimensions of Birchbox shipments?

Birchbox measures 7" x 5" x 2". Birchbox Man measures 8" x 5.5" x 2.5". Full-size shipments will vary in size.

Does Birchbox ship internationally?

Birchbox currently ships to all provinces in Canada. For international purchases we operate as Birchbox UK, Birchbox France and Birchbox Spain.

What is your shipping policy? Do you offer free shipping?

Each month, we offer free shipping on every brand sampled throughout the current month’s boxes. Please note that a minimum order quantity may apply to specific products; if applicable, this information will be available on the product page.

You’ll always have a full month to take advantage of this offer! For Birchbox Subscriptions, this promotion is valid through the 10th of the month after you’ve received your box. For Birchbox Man Subscriptions, it is valid through the 25th of the month after you’ve received your box.

Free shipping is also offered on any orders with a subtotal of $50 or more. Free 2nd-Day Shipping is available on full-size product orders $150 and over.

Please note that 2-Day Shipping is not available for the following: 1) P.O. Box, APO/FPO/DPO, and non-Continental US addresses 2) Orders containing (but not limited to) nail polish, perfume, and aerosols, 3) Addresses to which Free Standard Shipping is a faster option.

Orders that do not qualify for free shipping will ship for a flat fee of $5.00. Customers have the option to pay $7.00 for UPS Ground Shipping, $15 for 2nd-Day, or $22 for Next-Day Shipping. Delivery estimates apply only to in-stock, full-size products, and exclude subscriptions.

Shipping methods for monthly boxes and gift subscriptions cannot be changed at this time.


How can I customize my Birchbox?

To ensure you’re receiving the samples best suited for you, be sure to fill out your Beauty or Grooming Profile. This allows us to learn more about your preferences and style so we are able to introduce you to the perfect products each month. In addition, you’ll have the option to pick one of your samples or opt into our Guest Editor or featured boxes each month via email.

Am I able to choose the samples I receive?

Each month, you will have the option to pick one of your samples or opt into the Guest Editor box or featured box(es) curated by the Birchbox team. These offers will be sent via email, so be sure you’re on our mailing list! Choosing a sample or box comes at no additional cost. Please note that your eligibility for sample choice within the first month of your subscription is dependent on your sign-up date.

Prefer surprises? We don’t blame you! If you don't make a selection, you’ll receive a box with five samples tailored to your Beauty or Grooming Profile.

Birchbox Points

What is the Birchbox Points Program?

The Birchbox Points Program is designed to help you get the most out of your membership. You earn points every time you shop, refer friends, or leave reviews on your current subscription samples.

Specifically, you will earn 1 point for every $1 you spend in the Birchbox Shop; you earn 50 points for every friend you refer who purchases a personal Birchbox subscription through our Birchbox Refer-A-Friend Program; and you earn 10 points for each review you leave on samples you've received. 100 Birchbox Points can be redeemed for $10 in the Birchbox Shop.

Birchbox Points can be used to purchase full size products from, as well as gift subscriptions.

Please note that you may not use Birchbox Points to purchase your monthly or yearly recurring Birchbox subscription, and Birchbox Points are non-transferrable between accounts.

How do I redeem my Birchbox Points?

You’ll be able to redeem your Birchbox Points as a form of payment at checkout. After entering your shipping and billing addresses, select the box directly above the credit to apply your points. Your new total will recalculate before you submit your order.

Please note that Birchbox Points can only be used in increments of 100 (ie: 200 Birchbox Points will be applied to cover a purchase of $16.99.)

Do Birchbox Points expire?

If your Birchbox Points go unused, they will expire a year from the date that they were earned. For example, if you earned your points on January 1st, 2013, they will expire on December 31st, 2013.

Can I redeem my Birchbox Points for monthly and/or yearly subscriptions?

Birchbox Points can only be redeemed on full-size orders and gift subscriptions. Points and/or store credit cannot be applied to monthly or yearly rebillable subscription orders.

What is your return policy?

If you are not 100% satisfied with your full-size product purchase, send us a message! You can return items to Birchbox for a full refund within 90 days of the purchase date. Return shipping is free of charge. Please allow 10 business days for the return to be processed once it is received at our warehouse. After your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed and a credit will be automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment, including any Birchbox Points used.

Please note, the original shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. Items purchased with a GWP can only be refunded with the GWP included in your return. GWPs purchased at full-price are eligible for a full refund.

Do you offer exchanges on full-size products?

What is your promotion code policy?

We will honor any orders placed 3 days prior to the promotion release date. If you forget to use your promo code, contact us as soon as possible here with your order number and promotional code included. We will do our best to honor it!

Can I apply more than one promotion code for a single order?

At this time, only one promotional code can be applied to an order. However, codes can be combined with your Birchbox points for extra savings!

Gift Subscriptions

What is a gift subscription?

Gift Subscriptions are ideal when purchasing a Birchbox Subscription for someone other than yourself. Gift Subscriptions are available in 3, 6, or 12-month increments as a one-time purchase and are intended to be shipped to a recipient rather than the purchaser.

Gift recipients will have the opportunity to create an account and fill out their respective Beauty or Grooming Profile to ensure boxes are geared toward their personal preferences.

How do I purchase a gift subscription?

Am I able to gift a monthly Birchbox subscription?

Monthly subscriptions cannot be gifted. However, you can choose from 3, 6, and 12-month gift options. These are one-time purchases will not result in recurring charges.

Where can I send a gift subscription?

Gift subscriptions can be shipped anywhere within the United States, as well as APO/FPO/DPOs and all provinces in Canada. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship gifts to US territories including Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. For international gifts, please refer to Birchbox UK, Birchbox France, Birchbox Spain and Birchbox Canada.

How far in advance am I able to order a gift?

Gift subscription orders can be placed up to three months in advance.

Can I purchase a Gift Card?

Electronic Gift Cards are available for purchase in increments of $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200. Gift cards can be used to purchase full-size products in our shop, but cannot be used toward monthly or yearly subscriptions.

Purchases made with gift cards will not be eligible for Birchbox Points. However, you will earn Birchbox Points on the purchase of a gift card. Please note that gift cards cannot be purchased with Birchbox Points.

Customer Reviews

How do I write a review?

To write a product review, you must be logged into your account. From there, visit the product detail page for the item you wish to review and click the red ‘Write a Review’ link below the product name. You’ll be prompted to provide a rating, review summary, and content of at least 20 words, as well as a nickname.

Once submitted, each review is processed and may take up to 72 hours to become visible on Approved reviews are published along with profile information, such as hair color and skin type, if you have chosen to share your profile. Content will be rejected if it appears irrelevant, offensive, promotional in nature, inclusive of links or otherwise inappropriate for publication.

How can I review the samples I got in my box?

To review your samples, first sign into your Birchbox account. On the top of the page, you'll see a tab titled "Your Box." Click on the tab and select “This month’s box.” From there, select the image of the product you would like to review. Under the product name you’ll find a white box that says "Write a review." Fill out the feedback form and be sure to click "Submit Review." Once your review is submitted, you will see a message confirming your review was successful and that 10 Birchbox Points have been added to your account.

Please note that your Birchbox Points will be automatically added to your account for sample reviews from your current month's Birchbox. For Birchbox subscribers, the review window lasts between the 10th of the month when your box ships until the 9th of the following month. For Birchbox Man subscribers, you can review your samples from the 25th of the month when your box ships to the 24th of the following month.

Do I earn points for reviews?

You will earn 10 Birchbox Points for each eligible sample review completed. Customers with an active subscription will be able to review their current month’s samples for 10 points each. Please note that reviews must be written within 30 days of receiving your box.

Reviews for full-size products that you have not received in your monthly box will not be credited with Birchbox Points.

What is a nickname?

Your nickname is the name that will be displayed in association with your public contributions to Birchbox, including Customer Reviews. Nicknames are not required to be unique; they may be your full name or a pseudonym.

How do I edit or delete a review?

Reviews may not be edited at this time. If you’d like to delete a review, please send us a message with your customer details, as well as the product reviewed.

Am I able to submit an anonymous review or control the profile information I share?

Reviews will always display with your nickname, however, your profile information will only be shared if you grant Birchbox permission to use this information when posting your reviews publicly. This permission can be granted either by selecting the 'Profile Sharing Permission' checkbox when leaving feedback or by setting your profile sharing in your account.

Your profile sharing settings are accessible through your account on Birchbox. Within your Account Settings, select “Edit your sharing settings” beneath the “Profile Sharing Settings” header. Please note that in selecting to share your settings, you’ll be granting access to Grooming and Beauty Style, Age Range, Skin Type, Skin Color, Hair Type and Hair Color.
