BB Man: Tell us about what you do for work, and how your style reflects that.
Crouthamel: Well, I am a middle school teacher, so I know that I have over a hundred awesome students who watch every move I make. Each day, I try to show students positive examples of professionalism, while also taking the time to add my own personality to the clothes I wear. It's important to be confident and unique, especially because my kids are each trying to find their place in this world. That being said, if I make a fashion "mistake" in their eyes, my students are sure to let me know.
BB Man: How would you describe your style?
Crouthamel: I'd say my style is quite two-faced, but follows one theme: comfort. For work, I typically go for a “Southern gentleman in a bow tie-meets bookworm English teacher” look. Outside of work, I am quick to dress down with a casual, carefree look.
BB Man: Who is someone you admire? What is it about his or her work that you admire?
Crouthamel: I am really drawn to Geoffrey Canada, and the work he is doing with the Harlem Children's Zone. His idea is simple: if we want to provide the same opportunity for every kid in America, it takes a movement in the community. I truly believe that education is the great equalizer in our society, and I think we have to do whatever it takes to make sure all children get access to a world-class education so they have a chance!
BB Man: What is your favorite thing that you have received in your Birchbox?
Crouthamel: I really like the Topo Designs Dopp Kit I got a few months back. I've traveled for a few weddings recently, so it has been a great help. It also doesn't hurt that it was Carolina blue (go Heels!).
