Last week, both art and fashion fiends gathered in sizzling Miami to experience the magic that is Art Basel Miami Beach. Although the annual showcase is targeted towards serious art collectors, it's also an excuse for experimental style aficionados to party it up while flaunting their boldest looks. I was there on assignment, but managed to catch some fresh beauty inspiration for lips, hair, and nails.
The Bob is Back
One of my favorite looks of the week came from Miami-based beauty blogger, Nimat Lani. Despite the city's notoriously humid weather, her asymmetrical bob à la Birchbox crush Eva Chen looked perfectly sleek. (If you already have this enviable haircut, use Sedu's Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment and Revolution Flat Iron to recreate her posh and polished vibe.) Nimat topped off her look with hot pink lipstick, which made for a perfect complement to her glowing, tan skin. To copy her look, grab Lipstick Queen's Glossy Pencil in Crime for a statement lip and Benefit’s Hula to fake a sun-kissed face.
Speaking of neon, model Chloe Nørgaard never ceases to amaze me with her crazy-cool hair color experiments. I caught up with the Rodarte star at the Poplipps party to get the scoop on the inspiration behind her ever-changing Technicolor tresses, which she's been dying since grade school. Her answer was simple: "Being weird is fun!" Want to get wild? Try out semi-permanent hair chalk and find the color combo that suits you.
This year statement nails ruled Miami Beach, and NYC-based nail atelier Vanity Projects was there to hold court at the Mondrian South Beach, offering art-inspired manis to stylish partygoers. Celeb manicurist Destinee Handly painted my nails with an of-the-moment metallic copper polish (above). To get this look at home, try Top Shelf from Color Club’s Cocktail Collection.
