5 Must-Try Fall Trends From an A-List Makeup Artist

LA's most popular beauty convention, BeautyCon, recently descended upon the City of Angeles. Before the beauty blogger- and vlogger-filled festivities kicked off, we sat down with celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine (above, center), who was in the house with COVERGIRL. With Nadine's enviable client roster, including Lauren Conrad, Kate Bosworth, and Rachel Bilson, we knew she'd be the perfect person to give us the scoop on next season's celeb beauty trends—and how to rock them IRL.

Metallic Lids

Why: "Bright, shimmering metallics in creamy finishes give lids an instant spotlight."
How: Smooth a pea-sized amount of creamy shadow with your finger on the back of your hand. Dab it across your lid a few times then smear it back and forth to fill in both your lid and crease.

Bright Liner

Why: "Eyes make a bold statement when you put a colorful twist on the traditional cat-eye."
How: Starting at the inner corner of the eye, sweep your pencil or brush along the lash line incrementally as you work your way to the outer corner. Determine the angle of the wing by aiming at the end of the brow, then drawing the flick the length of a lash.

Babydoll Lashes

Why: "This fall, bold lashes make the leap from the runways to the red carpet."
How: Take the extra time to coat each lash by holding your mascara wand vertically and painting them from the root to the tip. Then, switch to holding the wand horizontally and wiggle it through the lashes. Repeat both steps on the bottom lashes.

Dewy Skin

Why: "After seasons of matte looks, glowing skin makes a fierce return."
How: Even out your skin tone by using a dampened egg sponge to stipple a luminous foundation all over the face and neck. Steer clear of powder; instead swipe your finger in an anti-shine mattifyer, then tap it along the T-zone, letting the rest of your face glow. Pair it with fresh, flushed cheeks by applying cream blush to the top half of the apples.

Glossy Lips

Why: "An homage to the Old Hollywood Sophisticate, this look is strong and put-together."
How: Line the perimeter of the lip, exaggerating the cupid’s bow. Next, fill in lips with a bold color like deep berry, red, fuchsia, or wine. Finish with a slick of true-to-tube-color lip gloss.
