From Red and Sweaty to Happy Hour-Ready in 15 Minutes

Our community of Birchbloggers is a vibrant bunch of beauty-loving ladies from all corners of the blogosphere. Stay tuned, as we’ll be featuring one Birchblogger each month to share her story on the Birchbox Magazine. This month, meet Anisa Kamlani, the baked goods aficionado behind Whisk and Heels.

In a perfect world, getting to the gym and having a social life wouldn’t have to compete. Since I frequently find myself running from yoga to cocktails, here are my simple steps to keeping your gym bag light and transforming your, um, glow, into the kind that gets compliments at the bar.

Wipe that makeup off before you start your workout—your pores will thank you! I keep single-use makeup removing wipes from LaFresh in my bag to make things easier.

Rinse off under the coldest stream of water you can possibly stand. This will not only get you out of the shower faster, but will help cool you down (and keep you from “glowing” through that cute top). Don’t have time to shower? Give your face a cold-water rinse to remove sweat and reduce redness.

The Touch-Up

Apply a light coat of concealer anywhere that’s still red—I usually pat some under my eyes and blend it halfway down my cheekbones and over any blemishes. Since a cream or liquid foundation will amplify moisture, use a puff to dust a light layer of powder all over your face. Dot some brightener on the inner corners of your eyes and give your top and bottom lashes a quick smudge of liner. I keep one of the Sumita minis in my bag at all times; the purple is my favorite because it perks up my brown eyes. After the standard two coats of mascara, finish by tinting your lips with whatever lipstick you wore to the office. We’re not going for perfectly crisp edges here, just one swipe and a blot, and you’re good to go.

Et voila! Now go enjoy those drinks—you’ve earned them!
