How to Copy Blake Lively’s Gorgeous Braid

Blake Lively has arguably the most covetable hair in all of Hollywood, whether she's rocking an undone bun or laid-back braids. Further proving our theory: the long, tousled braid she debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.

There are three things you need to recreate this plait: shiny long locks, lots of volume, and an arsenal of hair primpers. Here's how to get the look:

Step 1: Prep your hair with the right product: While showering, use Kérastase Masque Cristal to increase shine and restore hydration. Post shower, apply a fews spritzes of SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Liquid Fabric to nourish strands, while adding texture. Next, master a salon-quality blow out with this handy tutorial.

Step 2: Once your hair is dry, add in even more volume and texture. Oribe's legendary Dry Texturizing Spray absorbs oils and adds instant oomph to flatlined locks. Work the formula into your strands and use a teasing brush, which has short, stiff bristles that grab onto hair easily, to gently tease your entire crown. Then, pull your volumized hair into a high ponytail.

Step 3: To mimic Blake's slicked-back look, spritz Number 4™ Non-Aerosol Hairspray onto the front section of your hair and use a fine-toothed comb to carefully smooth any flyways. The trick to nailing this 'do is all in the proportions—the top half of your hair should look wet, and the bottom half dry.

Step 4: Wrap a strand of hair around the base of your pony to mask the elastic. Divide your hair into three sections and start braiding—don't worry about making it look perfect. Secure your braid with a clear elastic.

Step 5: For the finale, use the teasing comb to gently muss the long braid.
