So far, this spring has abided by that old “April showers” rule. And you know what? I’m not complaining. Sure, getting stuck in the rain without a good umbrella is the pits. But in my book, there are few things I’d rather do than spend a Saturday afternoon indoors with a few friends, a fully-stocked Netflix queue, and the perfect balance of sweet and savory snacks. So if you’re still frowning about the nasty weather, hear out my defense of rainy days:
They’re the Perfect Excuse to Catch Up on TV...
Anyone who knows me well knows I love to watch TV. They’ll also tell you that I don’t discriminate. If it’s pouring outside you’re likely to see me curled up on the couch, Roku in one hand, snack in the other. Some Birchbox HQ faves: Mad Men, True Detective, Broad City, and Scandal.
...Or Curl Up With a Good Book
There’s something purely relaxing about sitting alone with a good book (unless that book is Gone Girl, in which case you’ll be in a fit of suspense). We love reading so much that our editorial meetings often morph into monthly book clubs. Recent staffer reads: The Goldfinch and The UnAmericans.

With extra hours at home, you can finally take the time to indulge in the beauty treatments you’ve been too busy for. Try an at-home microdermabrasion treatment from Dr. Brandt or a skin-perfecting mask like GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment.
One Word: Crafternoons
Ah, the Crafternoon. One of my most beloved pastimes. Whether it means decorating t-shirts or making friendship bracelets for my BFFs, an indoor crafting sesh (and plenty of girl talk) can be just as fun as a picnic in the park. Want to throw one yourself? Read our simple guide.

Gardening Indoors is Possible
Just because this advice comes from the guys, doesn’t mean we can’t use it, too. In this video, Birchbox Man editor Adam shows you how to grow fresh-smelling herbs from the safety of your own windowsill.
