I love wearing my glasses—in addition to keeping me from walking into walls, they play a big part in showcasing my personal style. Since I wear my frames four days a week, my fellow spec-wearing friends and clients often ask how to alter their makeup to make their eyes pop. Follow these steps to create looks that will make your eyes—and your frames—look gorgeous.
Step 1: Lighten and Brighten
Glasses cast a shadow around the eye, so you’ll want to counteract that darkness by making your eyes look as bright as possible. I start with a peachy or orange-colored base like Bobby Brown’s Color Corrector, which will neutralize any dark bluish tones under the eye to make your concealer look warmer. Follow with a nude liner on the bottom lash line to immediately make your eyes look bigger and brighter.
Step 2: Work With Your Frames
Cater your makeup to your frame design and eye color: Warm golds and brown shadows are universally flattering for colorful or embellished frames, while navy, green, and plum shades create a dramatic look for day or night. (Smashbox’s Full Exposure Palette provides endless options.) I opt to wing my liner up when I’m wearing my glasses to lift the eye, followed by a little extra mascara to bring the eyes forward.
Step 3: Make Brows Your BFFs
Neat and defined brows are an absolute must when wearing glasses. To get a perfect shape, I sketch the shape of my brows with my Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil and then fill them in with Anastasia’s Brow Duo Powder for a soft-but-full look.
