Ace the Strobing Trend with These Highlighting Essentials

Step 1: Choose a Creamy Highlighter

When it comes to strobing, your highlighter is the star of the show, so pick one thats sure to pop against your skin tone when applied to your cheekbones, cupids bow, brow bones, and bridge of your nose. Chantecailles golden Liquid Lumire illuminator is gorgeous on warm complexions, while a pink-tinted formula like INIKAs Light Reflect Highlighting Crme flatters cooler undertones. For a super subtle look, go with a neutral highlighter like W3LL PEOPLEs Bio Brightener Stick, which uses light-reflecting microcrystals to create a soft-focus effect.

Step 2: Add an Illuminating Powder

To emphasize your highlighter and help set the creamy products, layer a luminous powder on top. Stick with your original color scheme here: Vasantis See The Light Powder Highlighting Duo features two coordinating shades to bring out golden tones, while theBalm cosmetics Cindy-Lou Manizer delivers a rosier glow with a hint of lustrous pink perfect for fair tones. You can even use a powder eye shadow to get the job done: Stilas Kitten, a shimmery nude, does double duty as a brightening highlighter.

Step 3: Amp Up Your Brush Arsenal

While you can definitely blend highlighters with your fingers, the perfect tool can help you get a much more precise look. A flat foundation brush like Dermablends silky soft version is ideal for applying liquid or cream highlighter to the high planes of your face, and a Beautyblender sponge makes it easy to create a diffused effect with no obvious lines. Use an eye shadow blending brush to dust light-reflecting powder over small areas like the bridge of your nose.

Step 4: Complement with Cheek Color

Up the glow factor and carve out your cheekbones with a shimmery bronzer like ModelCos sheer powder, or go for a fresh, pretty look by applying a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks (we love Jouers multipurpose moisturizing tints for this). Better yet, combine both blush and bronzer to give your complexion even more dimension. They dont call strobing the new contouring for nothing.
