Last night, the U.S. men's soccer team fought to the bitter end against Belgium and, unfortunately, was knocked out of the World Cup despite a tremendous effort. However, the star that will forever reign in our hearts, and history books, is goalie Tim Howard.
Howard blocked a record-breaking 16 goals—the most in a single World Cup game in the past 50 years. And for this, he was appointed as the new Secretary of Defense.... kind of. Some adoring and witty fan changed the U.S. Secretary of Defense description to include Howard's name and picture. Not only that, but his own wikipedia page was momentarily changed to include the title: "American Jesus." While both have since reverted to their correct format, Howard will remain a hero in our hearts, along with our Twitter feeds thanks to the hashtag #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave. Some favorites include private Ryan, Mufasa, and the Titanic. We salute you, Tim.
