The in-office countdown has begun: The annual Birchbox holiday party is only hours away! While past celebrations have been more lowkey (2011 was the year of the ugly sweater), this year we’re going the sophisticated route with a formal dress code. (Don't worry, we're also having karaoke and 80s dance tunes.) While our Birchbox Men are dusting off their bow ties, the ladies have been on the hunt for the perfect party dresses. Luckily, we recently partnered with a designer who basically invented the cocktail dress: Rebecca Taylor. In addition to creating an adorable gift-with-purchase bag for us, the tastemaker played fairy godmother to three Birchbox staffers and helped them pick out designs that fit their bodies and style. Click through to see their looks and get inspiration for your own celebrations!
Title: Brand Campaign Strategy Senior Manager
Wearing: Sleeveless Cable Knit Dress
Dressing up doesn’t mean you have to be uncomfortable. Case in point: This stretchy knit dress is supersoft and cozy, but also clings to curves for a dressier feel. Wear it with ankle booties and a blazer to the office, then ditch your jacket and throw on some sparkle for an evening out. Versatility means it's worth the investment.
This laidback, girly dress deserves makeup that that’s equally unfussy: dewy skin, shimmery shadow, and a touch of pink gloss for good measure.
Title: Discover Specialist
Wearing: Embellished Dress with Cutouts
Talk about a hot little number! This sexy statement-maker is not your average LBD. With the cutouts and the studs, it’s suited for someone who doesn’t mind a little extra attention. And if your holiday plans tend to end with late night dancing, the accordion skirt will come in handy—it was made for twirling!
With such a show-stopping dress, it’s best to keep makeup to a minimum. Your best bet: fresh skin, black liner, mascara, and a punchy red lip.

Title: Operations Coordinator, Beauty Partnerships
Wearing: Lace and Chiffon Dress
This dress is a fantastic balancing act between light and dark: The color and lace panels are decidedly feminine, while the studs give it just the right dose of edgy. And like so many great wardrobe staples, the tailoring is what makes this piece special—the softly structured silhouette is slimming without being constraining.
Plum is the new grey, at least when it comes to smoky eyes. This look is dramatic without being heavy. Pair it with a fresh complexion and nude gloss.
