Safety razor blades might be economical, but that doesn’t mean they compromise on quality. These blades by Derby Extra serve as exceptional ammo for any standard safety razor. Each double-edged specimen is forged from Swedish steel, and at a value of 20 cents per blade, their price will impress just as much as their edge.
These razors are good but not great. They work well but the price the not match compare to other competitors like shark or feather. I suggest to just by a 100 razor pack from amazon.3
These blades are okay. I thought they were a good starting point for someone getting into safety razor shaving, but I would not use them beyond those first few shaves. Great practice to get down a proper technique before trying the sharper blades that could cut your face.2
Before I started letting my beard grow out I used these blades. Was quite pleased with them. I would definitely recommend these for purchase.4
This is my first experience with this type of razor and razor blade. This blade didn't feel very smooth like I have heard about with other types of blades. I could feel it getting hung up a couple of times, and I ended up with some small nicks on my neck.
Overall I got a close shave with these blades, but I hope to find a more smooth experience elsewhere.
I had been using the same brand of blades for years, but I think i'm going to switch. They are a good fit for my grandfathers razor; They are pretty great by my standards.5
Derby makes a good blade. If you are new to wet shaving, this might be the way to go. You can get closer and more aggressive with Feather blades, but if you don't want to risk nicking yourself, this is the one you want.4
I've used a lot of different safety razor blades and I would not recommend these to most people. They are less sharp than a lot of other brands. Some people say that they help with sensitive skin, but I don't have this problem so I couldn't say for sure.3
There are a lot of options when it comes to buying DE blades and these blades sit down toward the bottom.
Sure, they might work for your face, but I would say it is pretty unlikely. I have a face that is pretty forgiving with blades and there are probably 15 or so brands that I take no issue with. Derby is not one of these brands. Additionally, they generally carry low reviews. Nonetheless, I recommend all newbies get a sample pack and figure out what blades work the best for them, and a lot of these packs will include Derby's. Compare against other blades and I believe you'll be able to tell why these blades aren't for most.
I tried at least 10 different blade packs in samplers and I LIKE the Derby! Not expensive, I get a great close shave, and I think they're one of the best blades I've used! Maybe they're not for some, but don't count them out!!5
My husband loves these blades they fit. And flex perfect in his baxter safety razor. The safety razor was a really good investment and these blades are so affordable that you can have the luxury with a fresh blade each shave:)5
