This scrub-cleanser hybrid is gritty enough to remove dead skin, yet gentle enough to nourish what’s underneath. Hydrating as it exfoliates, it includes sunflower glycerides and lactic acid to downplay aging and sun damage. Rich in skin-brightening antioxidants, this formula even lifts stubble to prep skin for shaving and prevent ingrown hairs.
When I first got a sample of this I thought 'This is the difference between men and women: you create an exfoliating scrub for women you focus on gentle, organic, natural moisturizing ingredients. With men you can simply say "Here is some dirt to rub on your face to scrape away your dead skin."'
While I really like this product, I have learned since purchasing it that the plastic "sand" they use is actually causing problems for water treatment plants and fish so, sadly, until they reformulate the product with something like actual sand I will not be purchasing this again. A real disappointment, but such is life.
This was a bit gentler than I was expecting from the packaging.5
it seemed like it was a bit rough on my skin, so definitely not something that i could use on a daily basis. every once in a while when my face feels exceptional gross, but as a constant use product i couldn't do it2
The wash was a little different than I expected, but my skin feels clean.4
Cleans nicely, exfoliates mildly. The "sand" is an interesting sensation -- definitely better than raking the pebbles that other brands use across your face in the morning.4
Personally, I tend to skew toward more abrasive exfoliants as they tend to give me more concrete results in the short term. Billy Jealousy's LiquidSand is definitely gentler than what I'd normally buy/use. BUT, I did enjoy it. Upon using it for the first time (my first facial exfoliation in some time) my girlfriend immediately asked if I'd exfoliated. I definitely don't have bad skin, so I guess her noticing speaks toward the efficacy of the product. It works as advertised, and rather than feeling individual little beads, you just feel an overall light scratch over your face, like the finest of sandpapers being gently pulled across your skin. I enjoed this feeling quite a bit and it was in no way abrasive or uncomfortable.
The brand name and packaging are somewhat chincy, but hey, if the product works who am I to complain. I might buy this in the future, or just use my exfoliating soap bar on my face to achieve similar results and save some coin. Hope to try some more Billy Jealousy stuff in the future.
The scent of this is a real real plus effective as well. I can see using this as a regular in my routine.4
Big fan of the Billy Jealously stuff, you can feel this stuff work as soon as you lather it up on your hands, leaves face feeling clean and smooth.4
Felt like a fine powder and not too abrasive. No overpowering scent.
This product has a good scent and a good feel to it. You can feel the small exfoliating particles working away dead skin layers.5
