Many shaving aids foam and froth dramatically, but that doesn’t mean they’re offering your face protection through a shave. Prepping your face with a quality pre-shaving formula—one that sits directly against the skin—will ensure you’re safe from nicks, bumps, and irritation. True to its name, John Allan’s pre-shave solution creates a super slick and super protective primer coat, over which you can apply your usual shaving solution. Think of it like the Zamboni that smoothes and cools the shaving surface, allowing your razor to glide like Apolo Ohno.
This didn't seem to make my shave any more smooth or efficient. I really like Art of Shaving Sandalwood Oil so I'll just stick with that.3
This smells good but I am not sure how effective it is...3
It worked really well, but it's definitely not worth $30.3
Glycerin-based preshave treatments are fantastic, and this one works great. However, pure glycerin is cheap and easy to come by, and mixing your own (as recommended in the Birchbok article on preshaves) saves you a bundle over buying this product.3
I have a relatively sensitive face and shave probably about 2-3 times a week. I often let a shadow grown in and then trim it before shaving so the hair is not too long for the razor. This product did an ok job lathering up the face and making it feel "slick" for the razor, however it's not the best sample I've received from Birch Box (that would be the Lucky Tiger hands down). It's also pretty darn expensive if you were to buy.3
I have used other pre-shave products and this is one of my least favorite that Ive tried.3
This product was ok, but I'm not too impressed. It was nice to have a sample, but I don't think I'd spend the extra money on a full size.3
It's an odd texture...for a man...to use, and no scent. But works well...3
I can't decide if it works or not. I suffer from severe razor burn no matter how sharp my blades are or not. Slick Water is definitely smooth but I feel like the application of shaving cream after application of Slick Water almost decreases its effectiveness. I'm on the fence. Its not a bad product, but perhaps it just doesn't work very well for me.3
nice but the price is too steep for my budget and the product was a little thin and not the right consistency for my shaving needs3
