Inspired by the complex character of the world’s most iconic flower, perfumer Jerome Epinette set out to create an unconventional rose fragrance. The result is this brand new blend, which features rich floral notes undercut by a spicy, smoky trail. Romantic and bold, it avoids the cloying sweetness of most rose-based scents, with a concentrated formula that lends a single spritz some serious staying power.
Received this in my box this month - I spilled a little too much on my wrists and it smells VERY strong! It's really, really nice though and would blend nicely with a citrusy scent if you're feeling adventurous.4
When I first put this scent on, I honestly didn't think I liked it because it seemed a little strong. But once it settles into the skin, it smells gorgeous and very feminine. What I love most is that, thought rose is a primary part, it's not an obnoxious rose scent, and the other notes mix very well with it to create an amazing scent!5
Wow! This is a super heavy fragrance to me. I could smell it through the packaging. I have to admit I am not a fan of rose scented anything so maybe that was what turned me off, but to me the rose is not the prominent note. It is some "spicy" note that is just too "spicy" for my liking. On a positive note, the packaging is beautiful! All in all, not a fan of this one.1
loved the postcard and theme to the sample. it smells great and i have gotten compliments alreafy!4
As the description states this is not a sweet rose sent. Rather it has musky and spicy tones, which I gravitate towards because they work very well with my skin chemistry. Upon opening my sample I was struck by the unique rose fragrance with so many layers and was very pleased after wearing it for a day that it worked very well on my skin. It is very bold, and a little goes a long way.5
While I don't usually care for rose scents, this (along with Stella by Stella McCartney) is one of the few that I truly like. The floral is grounded by the earthy tones, and the overall effect is intriguing rather than heavily floral.4
It smells very pretty and slightly European, but it seems more suited for an older person? Overall, I like the scent it may appeal more to women over 50.4
The Birchbox page for this product says, "Atelier Cologne fragrance designer Jerome Epinette set out to create an unconventional rose scent" and WOW, he sure accomplished his goal! I almost gave this sample away without even smelling it--that's how biased I am against overtly floral perfumes in general, and rose in particular. But I love Atelier's Vanille Insensée so much that I thought this one warranted a sniff, at least. I'm glad I did, because this scent is unlike any rose perfume I've ever smelled before! In my opinion it is a very clean, slightly spicy scent w/quite a bit of vanilla, as well. Honestly, if someone had not mentioned the word "rose" and just asked me to smell and describe this scent, I don't know that I would have picked rose out of the scents I smell in it! (disclaimer: I'm just a consumer, and I don't deal with perfume for a living.) I won't be buying this cologne, because of Atelier's scents I still prefer the Vanille, as it is a warmer and obviously more vanilla scent than this one, and that is my preference in scents. But for someone who is looking for a VERY modern, very complex and delicious take on rose, Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme is absolutely lovely.5
This is a great take on the traditional rose perfume- it has a presence, but is not overwhelming, and made me feel very sophisticated. It also lasts for a long time, which is a big plus. Definitely considering buying this one!4
Seriously. My grandmother wore a heavy, rose perfume and this smells exactly like it. I prefer a light, fresh scent. This one is too much.1
