If you’re rocking a fragrance inherited from your old man, or relying on a goopy deodorant stick for your olfactory game, it’s time to mix things up. Kick off your new scent strategy with this subtle, summery eau de toilette from Motor City designer John Varvatos. It’s the fragrance equivalent of your favorite jeans and a just-washed tee: classic, cool, and easy-going. Even the packaging—a flask wrapped in hand-woven rattan—exudes laid-back class.
I absolutely do NOT like the scent of this perfume. I let my husband smell it too, and he told me to throw it out. Enough said!1
The weakest fragrances I've used . After promising subtle first notes this cologne dissipates completely in ten to fifteen minutes. This product line is not on my purchase list for myself or gifting!2
I liked the smell of this cologne, and my girlfriend does too. The only problem is that even if I put enough of it on to make my eyes water, the smell is gone twenty minutes later.2
I received this scent in my birchbox and am not a big fan. I regularly use and have full size bottle the John Varvatos Star USA cologne and really like it, but it is a bit more woodsy than this scent is.2
Got the sample and it seemed nice enough in the bottle, but no matter how much I put on, I could hardly smell it. The 3rd time I wore it I accidentally spilled about 1/3 of the sample bottle on my wrist and hand and even then it was only about as strong as most of my other colognes are after a spray or two. It's a nice citrus scent, but it's a bit boring and disappears so quickly, it almost makes me wonder if my sample wasn't somehow defective or really old or something. No way I would order it based on that experience.2
This is a very sweet yet subtle cologne. By far one of the designers better smelling colognes. Keep in mind...for this kind of an investment, that the notes comprising this cologne work best with your own bodies pH.2
The samples can be a bit misleading, but this seemed to feminine to me. I can't say that I'd be dying over a man wearing this one. It does smell a little bit better on the skin (I made my BF at least try it) but it isn't the best smelling thing he's ever used.2
I liked getting this little treat for my man friend in my November box but, I couldnt even tell he was wearing any cologne. Now, maybe that was his fault and can be easily fixed but this product is going to need to redeem itself in order to justify investing in a full sized bottle.2
This is a good everyday type of cologne. It is not overbearing in smell and you will probably not win over anybody with it, but it very light and refreshing. I have bought John Varvatos colognes before and some have been a little too harsh in smell.3
When choosing a scent, I tend to stay more with the barber shop classics (like grandpa), but John Varvatos Artisan is a nice change of pace.
I really enjoyed the citrus scents, especially when paired with other products from my January Box.
I have read some reviews saying the scent didn't linger, but in my case, I was surprised by its longevity.
This is defiantly more of a spring, summer scent due to its light, dry orange nature. I would recommend this for anyone looking for something a little different.
