The purpose of simple syrup—to sweeten a cold drink without waiting for sugar to dissolve—is straightforward. With its range of innovative, small-batch flavors, Royal Rose is anything but. Committed to the idea that quality ingredients make for quality cocktails, the brand uses 100% organic, fair trade cane sugar made from evaporated cane juice. This favorite companion of Brooklyn bartenders is a great way to liven up any libation.
Interesting choice to send someone who says they're not much of a drinker in their profile. I understand this is quite popular as a drink additive in certain locales and among social groups. It doesn't appeal to me. I don't like flavor in my drinks and if I did, I would not choose a chile or spiced flavor.2
This was a nice addition to my box and was helpful in adding a little kick to my cocktails. I am not a big fan of apicy things but my gueats absolutely loved it so I might have to try some of the other flavors.4
I tend to be hypersensitive to capsaicin (a true curse), so I was quite reluctant to try this product. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the company has done an excellent job of isolating the chile flavor without the heat. My concerns are that I'm not sure how versatile this product is and the lack of preservatives. I don't know if I'll use it all before it goes bad -- I mean, it's loaded with sugar, after all.5
It has s good flavor but it's not really my taste. I'm not really into mixed drinks4
I was a bit skeptical at first, but pleasantly surprised. The aroma of the pepper syrup is strong. It is perfect for spicy mixed drinks, as suggested, and I am thinking of many other ways to use it.
I also want to try the other flavors of syrups offered, thanks to this one.
I used it and I could feel a little tingle from the chiles but I couldn't taste it in the drink. I'll use it again with other mix drinks but overall it really wasn't as great as I was expecting it to be.3
I added this to my rocks margarita and got a nice peppery flavor. Not overbearing as some products can be!5
Great flavor, the perfect mixture of heat and sweetness. I even threw a few drops into my rye, and it tasted great.5
not sure why a chili syrup would be a birchbox sample when you don't know if a person can even have spicey stuff. not a good flavor not worth the purchase.2
I tried this out on Saturday night in a glass of Woodford Reserve. It was delicious, but I was unprepared for how spicy it is! I expected it to be on the sweeter side, but it packs a powerful punch. To sweeten it for next time, I might add some maraschino cherries.4
