Gentlemen of taste often prefer a traditional straight-razor shave. But when your schedule won't allow for cutthroat whisker removal, try this concentrated, creamy soap. Your choice from three distinctive formulas will have its perks: Refresh uses eucalyptus oil to tone and purify skin, plus menthol to deliver a tingly kick. Nourish uses karité butter and sandalwood oil to soften tough beards, producing a smoother, easier shave. Protect taps aloe and Vitamin E to soothe sensitive skin, leaving it soft and hydrated with a crisp, musky scent. Whichever you choose, it'll bring to mind classic barber shops with its no-fuss results and old-school packaging.
This has a texture and character really similar to Noxzema - and your skin feels great for it afterward. I used it with my wet-capable electric razor and it was the perfect companion.5
Had a bit of trouble getting it lathery first time trying with a brush but still the shave was much better then store brand gel I used before.4
Product seems to work well on sensitive skin, but there are better creams available3
I had looked into this shaving cream a while back but decided against buying it because it used inferior ingredients that contained parabens. I checked the ingredients label on this product when I received it in my box and it looks like this cream has gotten an overhaul and no longer contains them.
The product is great, I am very impressed. The cream develops a thick, smooth lather with minimal work when using a brush. I was able to get an extremely close shave, with my post-shave face feeling smoother than normal. The only minor complaint that I had was with the menthol. It felt refreshing early in the shave, but by my second pass it had gotten pretty strong, almost like icyhot. Not really a complaint, more like an annoyance. Other than that, this is a great cream and I plan on buying it once my sample runs out.
When I shave (about once every three days), it is a process. I have a thick beard and I have to shave carefully. I normally use a pre-shave oil and a badger brush. I put a quarter-size sampling of Proraso in my shaving dish this morning and used it with my shave brush. As I continued to prep my beard with the brush, the cream developed into a nice lather. The smell was very soft and muted, and honestly this is a plus since shaving cream can often conflict with your fragrance. Really nice product. Provided a great shave. I also really like the tube packaging. It's classic, simple, and appealing. Out of 4 stars... Packaging: 4, Design: 4, Lather: 5, Scent: 4, Hydrating, emollient factor: 4. Overall an 4 out of 5 stars. Solid shave cream. As an aside, this packaging is ideal for traveling.4
After using Proraso shaving cream from my Birchbox, I will now be purchasing the full size tube it gave me the closest shave I've ever had and the wife loved the scent.5
It is difficult to rate a shave cream. I personally don't like creams, but if I did then I would use this brand! I am more of a foaming type of guy, but this did provide a nice smooth shave with minimal burn.3
Good, easy lather. Lubricates nicely for my shave. It has a bit of camphor, which makes for a cool refreshing shave. It's a well respected brand in the shaving community.4
Good, easy to lather. Refreshingly cool soap. It has a bit of camphor to give it that cooling feeling. Good lubrication for my shave.4
After years of hating shaving and seeing the resurgence of traditional shaving methods with a safety/straight razor and badger brushes, I completely revamped my shaving game, and I owe a lot of its success to this shaving cream. I use a dime sized amount in my shaving bowl, and it lathers up so nice for my 3 passes. Soothing and manly scent, and combined with my regiment leaves my face nick-free and extremely smooth with no razor bumps or irritation in the slightest. My one tube will last for a long time, and it's absolutely worth it.5
