Having inherited more than a few of dad’s rusty shaving foam cans in our teenage years, we’re aware that shaving supplies don’t typically get better with age. Unless you’re talking about a heritage brand like PRORASO. The Italian line’s original preshave cream, with eucalyptus oil and menthol, is still a bestseller. They have also added a calming pre-shave formula that is designed for sensitive skin. You can’t go wrong with either one.
This is a great cream for those who want to "preserve" their razors in a way that Oils do not permit. It softens the skin and opens things up nicely. Like all proraso products it is mentholated, so be prepared.4
I use this every day along with the shaving soap (badger brush, safety razor, bloc alum) and aftershave balm also in the sensitive (green tea and oat) line. A little goes a long way so the jar lasts a long time (three+ months of daily shaving for me) making it a terrific value at $13. Lightly mentholated, gently and pleasantly scented (won't interfere with cologne), easy to work with, non greasy, great lubrication, softens beard and washes of easily. Highly recommended!5
Proraso shaving products are the best for the money. I have tried many pre shaves in all price ranges and this is by far the best. It's a must have if you want a smooth, cooling razor bump free shave .5
Effective shave preparation product. Cool refreshing feeling, I apply about 5 minutes before I shave after washing my face. Drastically reduces post shave razor burn.5
I use to use oil for my pre-shave regimen but this is hands down the best. I think I will try their aftershave balm next.5
This pre shave cream is perfect for those of us with sensitive skin. It really reduces razor burn and gets a much closer shave. Highly recommended.5
My shaving routine is to normally apply a hot towel after i scrub my face for a few minutes and then directly apply shaving cream and shave twice (with the grain and then perpendicular) to avoid a lot of nicks...yet I always have at least one. With the pre-shave cream being used in between my hot towel and shaving cream (and allowing a few minutes to sit) I had zero nicks and felt like I was allowing the blade to glide a little better on my skin.4
After getting a sample Proraso shaving cream and really enjoying using it, I gave the pre-shave a try. Love how it makes your skin feel. Best if you let it sit for about a minute before adding shaving cream. There is a difference between shaving with and without the pre-shave. I get a closer shave and the blade flows smoother when using the pre-shave.5
I don't know if I would call it calming as much as I think it's more refreshing. It gives a nice strong tingle to the face and pairing it up with the proraso shaving cream it's a match made in heaven for your face.5
I have used the Proraso shaving cream by itself in the past, but after adding the Pre-shave Cream to my routine I find that I get a much smoother shave5
