While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
I was a little disappointed with the sample size (also because it wasn't sprayable) but the scent itself was very good - very manly. My girlfriend was a fan as well.4
Warm, crisp scent. Stays on the skin. Well blended to enjoy the patchouli without smelling like a hippy.4
I'll preface this by saying that I am a huge cologne fan/collector, and have probably near 60 full sized bottles in my collection, along with about 200+ samples, etc. And, thanks to the previous Birchbox I was introduced to the house of Atelier. I'm not a fan of patchouli and this cologne is very heavy in it, obviously. It is nice, but given that's it's an EDC rather than an EDT (eau de toilette), the essential oil concentration is much less, making it last a tad over 2 hours on my skin. Atelier makes a wonderful assortment of EDCs, and I highly recommend the orange one and the neroli one.4
Got a ton of compliments. Sample size was small, only got 2 uses out of it. But great spring sent.4
I really enjoyed the scent, and so did my girlfriend. But I already have a large selection of colognes, and this rather prototypical fragrance doesn't stick out enough to buy.
Sample, unless you are looking to accumulate an Anchorman-esque collection of cologne.
I am not a big Patchouli fan but this smelled better than I thought it would4
I love the smell of this cologne--its woodsy, earthy, and manly. My wife, on the other hand thinks it smells like a "Stinky Hippy" Can't win them all fellas...4
As someone who usually gives the lady friend the final say in most of my smells, this was slightly different. My first thought was of a summertime smell, but not something that I'd want to wear around the office from 8-6.4
I am not normally a patchouli fan and the scent normally makes me cringe in fear of being surrounded by hippies. However, this cologne was surprisingly decent, with a long life and a complexity and depth of smell that I appreciated. If it wasn't so expensive for such a small amount, I would consider buying it for myself - as it stands, it's more likely I'd ask for it as a gift.4
Its good. My girl likes it I like another sent but its a good summer sent and everybody I know wants it. A bit pricey for me never hearing bout . but I only know bout main stream brand names. But I am glad I found this one BC no one I know has it4
