While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
I really dislike this scent. Way too woodsy and way too strong.2
I was afraid it would be the patchouli still in my nostrils from college (I hung out with some of those guys), but it was not at all like that. I thought it was sophisticated with only a slight hint of patchouli. Very nice.5
I know. You see "Patchouli" you immediately thought "hippie", but this is surprisingly very masculine and has a rather clean smell to it. Not overly musky or strong. Would probably wear the sample more but just got another cologne recently. I would say it's more of a fall or winter cologne than spring or summer.4
I really enjoyed the cologne. It's a great gender-neutral fragrance but the price tag does seem a bit steep.5
I definitely enjoy the smell of this cologne. It is a little overpowering at first even with a couple drops but after a few hours it is very nice.4
This cologne has a pleasant odor. It is not offensive. However, it is not very enthralling. It does not linger. It is quite forgettable. It is not bad. However, it is not good.3
Great earthy smell that entices but doesn't overpower. I enjoy that this scent has staying-power yet remains subtle.4
This stuff smells great and stays on a long while .5
The fact that this has patchouli in the name made me nervous, but this is a nice smelling, spicy sort of cologne. Long lasting, great scent.5
This brand is a well known and respected brand in the fragrance community, so I was excited to receive this as a sample. However, I found the base note of patchouli to be so strong that it overwhelmed everything else. I was hoping for something more complex and intriguing from such a respected house.2
