While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
This is definitely not a subtle fragrance. That's not necessarily a terrible thing, but it is not my kind of scent. I prefer a much more woodsy/leathery/rich kind of scent than an especially bright and zesty one such as this. If you are a fan of fruity yet sharp scents, this one would probably make you happy.3
As someone who usually gives the lady friend the final say in most of my smells, this was slightly different. My first thought was of a summertime smell, but not something that I'd want to wear around the office from 8-6.4
I am a fan patchouli. Some people relate it to a hippie smell, but I am a fan. This cologne hits the spot. I've worn it a few times and people admire it.
The price for the actual bottle is quite expensive. Hopefully I can collect enough points to take some cash off so I can have a larger product.
This cologne smells pleasant, but maybe more appropriate for an "older" gentleman. I could picture the Dos Equis man smelling like this...3
Maybe, if you can stand the smell of patchouli, you'd like it. But I'd even think it'd be too strong for some who like the smell.2
I wore it to work and got compliments all day. it smells good and but isnt too overwhelming,5
I really like this scent. I usually base what colognes I continue to purchase on those that I get compliments on but have yet to get any. I did enjoy this product but the scent doesn't last long enough for my needs so I most likely won't be purchasing. It is very pleasing and crisp, however!5
Long-lasting and a nice scent but a little too feminine for my tastes.3
I have always been a guy who wears cologne. But, I'm not a guy who has a go-to smell. When I run out and have to buy a new bottle, I buy a new fragrance. However, when I tried on the Atelier Mistral Patchouli, my wife flipped out. She loved it. I mean: loved. it! More so than any fragrance I've EVER worn. I think I've found my go-to fragrance. In fact, judging by her reaction, I doubt she'll support me buying anything other than Atelier Mistral Patchouli.5
I find most cologne descriptors are BS. The person who wrote the ones for this product really should see an ENT. The ONLY note I picked up in this sample was patchouli; strong, pungent, oily, biting, acerbic, bitter patchouli. Honestly, Glade makes a better air freshener.1
