While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
This fragrance first struck me as very strong and would say almost woodsy. After being left a little it smells a bit lighter and fresher.4
I like the scent, but it was a little strong for everyday wear. Especially in the summer.4
When I first smelled the perfume, I was unsure... it smelled a little grandpa-y, but when I put it on, it transformed into something I liked much better. It's very low-key, and I like it.4
I love having new perfume and this was a nice change of pace. I'm not sure if i would buy a bottle of it but i would certainly use a few sample vials every summer.4
I got this in my box and the packaging was really great-you can tell this is a high end fragrance. They only problem for me is that I'm not into patchouli scents, they're a little too strong for me. Otherwise I would definitely purchase this.4
When the description said that it was spicy, it wasn't lying. The scent is a little strong for my tastes but it's different from any fragrances I've ever sniffed or tested. There's nothing floral or delicate or fruity (those are my preferences) about it. But it's different in a way that I kind of like, sort of exciting. The scent is sharp and not assaulting, but there's a serious woah moment in there. It's sassy and biting and rather sexy.4
This is so different from scents I usually buy (floral, fresh, etc) and I love it! It lasts throughout the day and I think smells better the longer it's been on.4
I agree with the comments that it's more of a mature sent.. I love the musky earthy tones in this, it's a good balance. It's not something i wear everyday i use lighter sent for that but for real special events this is my new go to sent.4
I really liked this fragrance as a change of pace from my normal flowery preference. It is much more rich and earthy, which is great for a fancy dinner date.4
I loved the packaging. The scent was surprisingly sophisticated--when I hear patchouli I think of an incense intense 13 year old stoner boy's room. This was not like that at all. It was very sexy, and I love the unisex aspect. I don't think it will end up my "signature scent" and I tend to select more floral or citrusy scents. But I would love this on my husband, and I think that it would be a good addition to a well stocked scent library. (My library is Michael Kors and Issey Miyake, and thats it, so I have a ways to go.) Definitely an appreciated gift for the right occasion!4
