While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
The scent has some floral and citrus notes to it that make it a bit too feminine for a guy. It also does have that hint of pepper that they advertise, which makes it an awkward combination. I would expect more women to use this fragrance, yet it would also be a poor choice for a girl.2
I'm actually a fan of Patchouli. In the right doses, the citrus smell can be pleasing. Perhaps it's because my bottle broke before it arrived on my doorstep, but the smell was noxious and uninviting.2
If you like woodsy smells, this would be a great scent for you. I tend to prefer clean, understated smells and this scent was just not something I would wear... Unless I was going for a hike and needed that extra edge, maybe...2
My wife loves the smell. She has adopted it for herself and I'd say that I don't mind it on her. It is very strong however and lasts forever - so be very careful with application.2
Smells like licorice, which i enjoy the taste of, just not the smell, especially at that price point, thanks for the sample but this is a pass for me.2
this fragrance is a little too strong for my tastes. i like things that are more subtle.2
Really didn't care for the smell either did my wife way to fruity2
That's really all there is to it...if you like patchouli this would probably be good for you. However I kind of associate patchouli oil type fragrances to hippies that try to mask over not showering. Not my thing.2
My Boyfriend really liked this product the size was nice.2
For me, it's definitely a cold weather scent. It's quite pungent, so a little goes a long way. I will definitely give my new sample a few tries to see what feedback I receive. As for the price of the full sized bottle...Im scared.2
