While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
Birchbox sends me a lot of cologne. I will never need to buy one for myself5
The fragrance is okay. It's a little crazy and I haven't really made up my mind on it, but it doesn't matter because anyone who spends north of $100 of cologne has too much money or not enough sense.2
On first trial, I didn't mind the scent and felt like it was something familiar. About drove myself crazy trying to place the scent when it finally hit me...it reminded me of my grandfather's scent from my childhood. He passed many years ago but that scent is one I will always remember. Like I said...I like the scent...but it's just not my kind of scent to wear. Has an older generation tone to it. Maybe it's my personal connection to the smell that gives me that impression but I have a feeling others will agree.3
Smells awesome- on my girlfriend. Not really a scent I would purchase for myself for the cost though. Didn't like the sample size or bottle. The top makes it hard to not get all over your hands. Needs a spray top.4
Didn't care for the patchouli smell, not for me at all.3
I'm not a big fan of the way this cologne smells. If I were buying more cologne for myself, I would probably pick something different.3
Not a fan of this, mainly because it smells like an old lady. Not a fan at all. Will not buy at all.2
This is a great take on the patchouli scent. A little earthy smells and not so much like the incense. Nice scent for summer.4
Overall, this cologne smells like patchouli But it isn't overpowering like pure patchouli oil can be. It's subtle and really nice to wear.4
Patchouli is just not allowed in our house. The smell of it makes me feel sick. So it's not this products fault - but still....I just think no cologne that wants to be seen as high end should have patchouli in it.1
