While the word patchouli might call to mind images of the hippie generation, this sophisticated fragrance couldn’t be further from that. Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses grapefruit and black pepper notes to enhance a base of Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is more “leading man” than “flower child.”
The scent of patchouli is either loved or hated, and although I am typically on the latter side, Atelier managed to make it likable... And then subsequently killed it by making it way too strong. May pass off to a friend, especially males.2
The unisex concept is interesting, however, the scent is just way too overpowering for me.1
I adore this scent! I was very suspicious when I saw the word "patchouli" on the packaging. I tried it on anyway and was blown away. This scent meshes with my skins chemistry so well! I was planning on purchasing this scent...till I saw the price. I love it, but cannot justify $125 for perfume. I would welcome additional samples any day though.... ;)5
This is more of a man's scent, I think. I dislike the smell of patchouli.2
This scent is supposed to be unisex, but it's definitely dude-smell. And not the good kind. It's definitely not for me.1
A little musty/manly for my taste. Smells more like a man's cologne.2
I liked this, but it isnt something I would wear as an everyday scent. I did smell like something my grandmother used to use. I really like the spicy notes.4
I would recommend this product to people who like the scent of patchouli, Atelier did a really good twist on the scent and picked out good citrus notes to match the patchouli. It's a kind of musky yet fresh scent but it wasn't for my taste.2
I wasnt a huge fan of the smell of this product. In my opinion there are much better things out there. Someone who likes more of the Musky scent may be a fan of this product.3
I actually really liked this perfume even though I generally do not like patchouli or musky notes. I think it would be a great fall scent. However, I would never shell out the outrageous price for it!4
