When it comes to your shaving routine, it’s high time to get back to nature. This concentrated cream (named the Best Shave Cream in 2012 by Esquire) uses essential oils to soften even the toughest facial hair and add nourishment when you need it most. The soap-free formula provides an uberlubricating barrier that protects skin from bumps, nicks, and irritation. Unlike typical foams, the cream allows you to track your shave and avoid sensitive areas. All in all, it’s a natural choice.
Not only does this stuff make shaving bearable, it makes it pleasurable! It smells great, and you'll drift off to another place and time, where visions of dancing unicorns and singing clouds will make you forget that you're dragging a razor across your face. If you like to use a shave brush to apply your cream, be warned, this is probably too thick to be used in this manor, or at least I didn't have very good luck when I tried. That being said, not everyone uses a shave brush (I own one and even I don't use it every time), and I wouldn't take any points away from this product for that fact alone. I had seen this originally in G.Q. magazine, decided to give it a try, and I was not let down at all. If you're interested in enhancing your shaving experience, give it a shot!5
I mostly have used a nice shave gel and thought I would never tolerate a shave cream until l tried this one. Great matte feel to it, clean shave, great smell, skin feels great. I do recommend you at least try it.4
This is an amazing shaving cream. It has a soft and silky feel and I love the scent. It also has great coverage. Highly recommended!5
I received a sample of Ursa Major with a purchase and recently tried it out. I loved the ginger smell of it but found there just wasn't enough in the sample to put down a good barrier. It was literally the driest shave I've ever had. It did leave my skin smelling nice, but I can't say I'd rush out to purchase it.3
I received a sample via the free code at checkout and was finally able to remember to use it. It was…ok. The first thing I noticed was how oily it was, which is good and bad, not enough and the razor won't glide well and too much will clog my pores; it was almost too much. The next thing I noticed was the smell. Now I really don't want to use it, but it's already on my face so I'll shave. After shaving, my skin felt very lubricated even after I used an astringent when I got out of the shower which is neither what I'm accustomed nor wanting to feel. I want my moisturizer to hydrate my skin, not my shaving cream. Overall, I was less than pleased with the product, impressed by the ingredients but hated the smell and threw away what was left of the sample.2
My girlfriend bought this for me as a b-day gift. I use it a few times and it's just OK. I prefer something that has more glide and rinse off easier. I will continue my search.3
The coolest part about Ursa Major is the story behind the brand. They also make a pretty good shaving cream, too. It wasn't quite right for me, as my hair is pretty coarse, but wasn't bad, either.4
I'm torn on the Stellar Shave Cream. On the one hand, it smells absolutely fantastic, feels rich and substantial, and delivers a close, comfortable shave even on my difficult neck.
On the other hand, it's way more opaque than I care for (I routinely lose more hair along my jawline than I intended when using it), and despite feeling rich and substantial, the cream itself doesn't feel slick and moist. Your skin will be left feeling great when you're done, it just doesn't feel like that's humanly possible when you're applying it.
While I am a huge fan of this brand and enthusiastically endorse their other products, the shave cream is underwhelming. It's a non-soap, non-foaming cream. While that's great for sensitive skin that can get dried out and irritated after shaving, I really wish it was more lubricating. Might work better in conjunction with a shave oil. Basically, if you're looking for a natural, nourishing, non-irritating shave cream and don't mind that it's not very slick, give it a shot, you might like it.3
