If you can't pop into Baxter's Los Angeles barbershop—a throwback complete with vintage porcelain chairs and hot towel treatments—this shave cream is the next best thing. A smooth, spreadable formula provides a protective barrier for skin and paves the way for an extraclose shave. Botanicals like tea tree oil, witch hazel, menthol, and peppermint prevent razor burn while leaving behind the signature tingle of a shave well-done.
I used my usual badger brush and usual hot water. I tried to lather in a dish, in a bowl, and directly on my face. I did everything the way I have in the past with other good shave creams. It didn't lather.1
This shave cream might be perfect for someone who uses a straight razor. It doesn't leather up too heavily and really does get to a close shave. But it's so think, so if you use a multi-blade razor, it will utterly ruin the blades. It gets totally stuck in them, and then the next shave will be bad--or bloody. Really not for me.1
This is by far the worst shave cream I have ever used. I tried it both with a brush and without (using the suggested "badger brush", which really ought not make a difference), and found no discernible difference. This does not produce enough cushion and glide for a respectable shave without using an exorbitantly large amount of cream. My initial attempts at shaving with it resulted in the razor skipping and even nicking me in several places. Look elsewhere for a good shave.1
Did not like it at all, no lather pretty flat did not provide a close shave. Went right back to my old shave gel.1
I used this with an old-fashioned, double-edged safety razor. The cream didn't do much to make my shave easier. I couldn't get any lather. I might just as well have used a bar of soap and water.1
The fragrance was great, as was the texture, but I ended up breaking out after shaving with this. I have sensitive skin on my neck and end up breaking out with razor burn unless I use certain types of cream. This one, unfortunately, was not one of the good types for me.1
I usually prefer thick, foamy shaving creams and this one had the thin/oily texture of sunscreen. It also caused an acne breakout on my chin after using.1
I was not a fan of this shaving cream (was excited to try it) as it simply did not provide a good lather with my shaving brush.1
Sorry - I just can't get into the Baxter products. I think this is the third month in a row that BB has had their samples in a monthly box. Out of the three, I mildly enjoyed the aftershave balm only. I found the shave cream to be thin and disperse too quickly - it has no body or oomph. Way too thin.1
Despite the packaging suggesting that this cream goes will with shaving brushes, it was awful. I couldn't get a lather no matter how hard I tried.
I wanted to try it brushless, but the sample size was too small to try again.
