Style is all about the details, so even though those plastic stays that come with your dress shirts may get the job done most of the time, why risk the dreaded collar curl? These revolutionary stays use magnets to firmly keep you looking sharp, no matter what the day may bring.
I've owned a few pairs of wurkin stiffs for over 6 years and my biggest problem in the past was losing the magnets. They usually hold great and keep my collar looking neat, preventing the "Saturday Night Fever" fly-away collar look. Occasionally, my messenger bag would pull my collar away and I'd lose a magnet down my shirt, but most of the time I didn't lose them completely. So I was pleased when I got another set via BirchBox. That was until I the first time I removed them after wear and when the magnets pulled together, a piece of each chipped off, leaving a jagged edge that I have be sure I now face away from my neck any time I wear them. Again, I love this product, but the particular set I received in this case was of sub-par quality.4
It basically does the job and keeps your collars stiff, but its kinda pricey for what it offers.
And at this price, be suuuurreee to take them out when you take your shirt to the cleaners!
I wear dress shirts everyday, I love these. They are a great way to polish off your look. They only problem I had with them, is that the magnetic backer kept chipping. It is a little circle magnet, and it would just randomly chip off. But I would totally suggest this to anyone.4
I prefer a button-down collar when I'm not wearing a tie to keep my collar from spreading flat. These stays make it possible to wear any shirt sans tie without worrying about the dreaded collar spread. The magnet keep the collar in place like there are hidden buttons somewhere. One of my magnets has already chipped, which keep me from giving this product 5 stars, but the stays are still usable even with the chipping.4
I use mine every day, and love the product. My only complaint is that they are significantly smaller than most other products I've used. But that hasn't deterred use.4
Great product, makes an older shirt stay for a bit longer.. However; the two magnets that hold the stay are very, very fragile. I let them 'snap' together and the side of one broke off completely. It still works but is missing a whole side.4
Included in my February box, clutch timing since I was planning on buying ones. Never had a problem with bending or falling out, haven't used the magnets yet.4
Stays all day long and does not budge, very impressed! However, when you bend over or make movements causing your shirt to move, the collars will not, causing a small fold or momentary crease. It is not noticeable in the moment, but I am very particular of how I look when i am decked out to the 9's in a suit and tie4
Perhaps I've been living under a rock, but I've always been under the assumption that a floppy collar was like the in-laws--just something you have to put up with. This product solved one of those problems.4
These came as part of a monthly box. I never would have bought them because I have plenty of collar stays, any of which keep the collar from curling, and thought these were just a gimmick. And while they aren't strictly necessary, I've been pleasantly surprised. First, the magnet is so strong it's pretty easy to get them attached and you won't knock it loose (I've, um, slept in shirt with them attached the whole time). But the real plus to me is that if you're wearing a shirt unbuttoned, sans tie, they allow you to place the points where you want them - close or spread - and have them stay there. So you can easily set whatever look suits you personally and then forget about if for the rest of the day. I only dock a star because they really aren't necessary unless you're a bit OCD like me.4
